      You just simply should be picked on merit. Not what you did years ago. Or you’ve never let the country down in internationals. I used to be Southgate in but now I’m Southgate out.

      Southgate has no criteria for picking players other than if he likes them (Maguire, Henderson). His selection is not based on performance so don't disguise his fault. Any other manager, Maguire would not even be near the team as a waterboy.

      Southgate is a coward. Has players that probably shouldn't be in the squad. But they'll have his back because they know they shouldn't be in the squad.

      agree with rio , hes used an extreme but it fits , these players deserve a call up and its disgusting they never get the chance to represent their country, its a farce the mans still in the job, england as a whole i would argue has the most depth out of every nation with an abundance of talent in a generation that lacks in other nations, i think its a travasty we haven't won anything yet , we should be Europeans and world champions rn

      I agree with rio particularly with ward prowse vs phillips.

      I like phillips dont get me wrong but ward prowse just destroys phillips over the past 2 seasons and jwp has been performing in the premier league for 12 years to kalvins 2. Neither are 1st team picks, thats rice and bellingham with what should be maddison (we all know southgate would rather mount) in front of them. i just dont see how you have a leg to stand on for phillips over ward prowse at this current point. Especially when you have a striker in kane who would thrive off jwp's service.

      Maguire shouldnt be in the team either but i kinda get simons point of theres no real other quality options, although i do reckon mings may have been picked over maguire if he didnt get that awful injury

      should kids give up on their football dreams because they don't get first picked for their team? or does sports champion meritocracy and striving to overcome your own limits. saying you should pack it all in just because you don't get picked for the national team isn't particularly sporty now is it?

      ENGLAND IS A LAUGHING STOCK 2 PLAYERS PICKED THAT GOT HARDLY ANY MINUTES THEN HE PICKED A 33 GUY WHO LEFT THE COUNTRY 2 FILL HIS BOOTS IN A LEAGUE THAT'S SO POOR SUNDAY LEAGUE WOULD LOOK BETTER SAUDI PRO LEAGUE LOL

      The fact is, Ward Prowse is far more deserving for these set of fixtures to be picked ahead of Henderson and Phillips. There is a lot to be said for continuity and not wanting to disrupt the harmony of a dressing room that has been relatively successful but ultimately you want your most in-form players playing for your country. Your job as an international manager is to incorporate the best players at the time, not just "I picked these guys they've always done well, sod the rest of you".
      How Maguire gets in ahead of Ben White is baffling. Selections and blind favouritism like this is what causes disinterest in the national team

      If Southgate has to listen to the noise around him about a certain player he has been ignoring for long before calling them up to the national team, the Southgate don't deserve to be there as a coach

      Simon. Please. Stop. Just stop. They are not feeling disrespected because they didn't get picked. They feel disrespected because even though they are playing well and consistently showing class, someone that doesn't even regularly start for their club let alone regularly get in the squad is picked before them. Now thats fair enough, no?

      I would love to see Scotland beat England all the time. I love Scotland V England games. I am Scottish. The upcoming Scotland v England match is a massive game in my opinion.

      To be honest the young black players should definitely retire and play for there parents countries, Southgate has turned into a yes man as all England Managers past and present. I have no issue with England being an all Caucasian team😂as you'll win nothing with that team😂😂😂 look and think about France picking the best players🤷🏿‍♂️and winning stuff

      England is and always will be a Gentlemens Caucasian team and let's just say it.

      Football is not a complicated game, only managers like Southgate can complicate it, when you have top players your job should be simple, play the best and inform players, get them in a efficient system and they'll do the rest.

      Rio's been extreme with that, but he does have a point. However, sterling shouldn't get picked anymore anyway, like Maguire, he's too predictable in his play and others deserve a chance to impress
