I didn't realize he went to one of the clubs that are not the rich 4 ones which were bought by the gov't. That fact makes it way, way more believable that he isn't making significantly more than last year and that the move wasn't money based.
A 33 year old in the twilight of his career, no longer the Player he once was, his strengths were his running and stamina which he no longer has on a consistent basis. A club comes in with a huge offer with ludicrous wages, of course he went for the money.

He s got enough money already, so there is absolutely no justification in going to a country where they chopped up a journalist simply because the leader didn't like his opinions. Legitimizing a country that's been bombing the hell out of Yemen, exported Wahabism, the most toxic form of Islam, and terrorises its poorer citizens (particularly immigrant workers) is truly horrible.
“If I wear the rainbow armband, if that disrespects their religion, then that's not right either. Everybody should be respectful of religion and culture." If a religion is the justification for torturing and executing a group of people, let’s not pay much attention to the thousand year old scrolls that aren’t so relevant in 2023, if it even says that anyway.
My favourite one though was talking about the rainbow laces and armband “I see that as a positive thing. I see that because, from [the Saudi] side, they knew that before signing it.
