Todibo is the ideal choice to me, we need a CB, not another RB.

The Problem is that he wants to play CB, thats one of his big reason for leaving Bayern
The case is that he is injury prone.
I want him. A RB who can fill in at CB is a saavy signing. Plus like you say next summer is a better time to go big on a top cb

Love the content but the eye test suggest that he is not as good. Bayern fans are nor fussed about losing him and majority refer to him as average.
I prefer todibo over him, bcs Pavard already being 28 and also injury prone, would be a problem. Todibo is younger, more aggressive and also a good passer and has still some years to develop unter Ten Hag.

I'd sign him because of his passing ability he can play RB for the time being and can cover Varane RCB I'd sign another top CB in the Summer window
if we talk about aerial defence and dominance then tobido is automatically out.
His versatility is a plus point for me, he can play RB and backup CB before we spend big money for top CB next year.
But if you said he is an error prone I'd prefer someone else
@AJ you say he has frequent lapses of concentration but don't provide any evidence. The only example i csn think of was against Australia in the 2022 World Cup. I don't think you can properly define a player based on one error.
I can understand the concerns regarding his mistakes and lapses in concentration but I think that’s something that can be ironed out with good coaching. Akanji had a reputation for being error prone when he was at Dortmund but last season he played the most minutes of any defenders in Man City team. So I think Pavard could definitely be a good signing for us
I really hope we go for Geertruida from Feyenoord, whose deal with RB Leipzig collapsed, rather than Todibo or Pavard! He is adept at both RB/RCB and played the same type of role as John Stones did last season and Geertruida was one of the most important players from the Feyenoord team that won the title.
my thoughts on a possible formation: Getting Amrabat along with Pavard will make our build up unpredictable and incredibly harder to press. Amrabat likes to come deep as a half-back/sweeper who dictates tempo while Pavard and Martinez likes to come forward, moreso with Pavard playing as a Libero.
the limitation of having Onana is that opposition teams will eventually sit deeper into a low block so Onana's influence as an extra deep lying playmaker will diminish. However, having a libero in Pavard and a "targetman" in Hojlund going semi-deep in what you would expect in an Enganche that can again "artificially" create a mini transition is designed to create overloads in all phases of play.
I’m a huge fan AJ, but you lost me when you started making the case for Pavard to be signed as a RB. That is literally the reason he is pushing to leave Bayern. Are you unaware of that or you just chose to ignore that context?
apparently the reason hes leaving bayern is beacuse they want him to play as a rb and we contacted him earlier in the year for the rb position but he said he wants to join as a cb

Todibo is a better fit though, he is very powerful aggressive and very quick and decent enough on the ball and we are desperate for a cover defender who is good on the ball and he's only 23 so much room for improvement. It will be an absolute bargain

The alternative is Todibo who is much worse aerially. I'm happy with both Todibo and Pavard personally. If Pavard is happy to play RB I agree with all your points
We have to think that Varane may be injured this season for a few games, it always happens each season, for that reason, we need someone similar to Varane qualities. Pavard is not the right name we are looking for if we want to replace Varane.

I personally find it a little weird that we would go out of our way to sign someone predominantly for RB, considering we already have 2 (not perfect but) good players actively competing for that position. I do like Pavard a lot, just a little wierd.

Jean Clair Todibo, despite being tall, is also ATROCIOUS in the air. So if that's a genuine concern, I wouldn't rely on him either.

Yes, he is versatile being able to play as Right Back, Centre Back, Defensive Midfielder besides he scores regularly. Manchester United must get him immediately.

Absolutely fantastic analysis (apart from saying hes not a threat in the final 3rd 😳). Id sign him as a 1st choice RB, who can fill in for CB along with Lindeloff.
Personally feel a left sided CB is more important
We don't need a versatile player, we need the long term replacement for Varane.
Unless we're getting rid of one of AWB or Dalot, there's no need for a decent CB who can play RB. A dominant CB who compliments Martinez, such as Todibo, is the better option.

If you look at stats, experience, fitness, Pavard tops the other candidates they look at. + he can play FB, even on 6.
