Liverpool’s search for a defensive midfielder has led them to 30-year-old Wataru Endo from Stuttgart. The Japanese player is captain for the national side, and can also be deployed as a centre back.

Liverpool were in the market for both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia but lost out on both players to Chelsea, which has lead them to a surprise signing of Endo. But is he the right fit for what Jurgen Klopp side needs?

JJ Bull takes a look.

  1. What a warrior. Great timing from Liverpool and Klopp to make the crucial and decisive signings to bring in Wataru Endo who may just be at his prime, mature with experience of drive, tenacity and leadership. He will definitely find it easier to perform without pressure and unrealistic expectations from high fee signings like others. Endo Wataru would be a great example for young talents such as Bajcetic. Endo's presence would also probably bring a certain level of humility to strive in the team, reigniting the drive of others such as Gomez and Thiago. Liverpool is armed with leaders and captains in all positions. VVD for Netherlands, Robertson of Scotland, the king of Egypt Mohammed Salah, and now the leader of Japan's Samurai descent, Endo Wataru.

  2. You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, well, you might find,

You get what you need (Endo), aw yeah, baby. (Rolling Stones).

  3. I remember when JJ first came on tifo irl. He was sooo awkward in front of tv. Now he looks soo comfortable and relaxed on camera. making little jokes and that. Proud of that guy

  4. How do I take you seriously if you got misinformation in the first 30 seconds of your video? James Milner was not sold by Liverpool, James Milner left on a free transfer.

  5. I totally go against listening to fickle Premier League fans, but instead listen to the the respective countries speaking about the players
I.e Szboszlai, Endo, Matip, Akanji, just to name a few

  6. Liverpool are gonna be a fun watch for the neutral this season. They're likely to score boatloads of goals but concede almost as many. I'm a fan though, so I may have a heart attack 😂
