    How Will Montiel Fit into Cooper’s Team? Is He Better than Aurier? | Nottingham Forest Analysis



    Nottingham Forest #nffc and Steve Cooper have completed their 4th signing of the summer window, with the acquisition of right back Gonzalo Montiel. The Argentina International will complete his move to Forest in next few days on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for £10 million.
    But how will he fit into Steve Cooper’s team, as Montiel is used to playing in a more orthodox 4 at the back system for #sevilla in Spain, however Cooper has preferred to play 3 central defenders and wing backs so far this season.
    Montiel does bring lots of experience to Nottingham Forest, as he played Champions league football for Sevilla, but also has 23 appearances for Argentina, most famously scoring the winning penalty in the World Cup final against France at the end of last year.
    But will Montiel be an upgrade on Serge Aurier, who most recently got 2 assist in the 2-1 victory over Sheffield United, and will Montiel be first choice now or find himself sharing the right back/ right wing back spot with Aurier this season.

      The amount of time Niakate spends injured and Aurier on the wobble it’s got to be good back up purchase but still desperate for a left back ( McCormack not up to job) and a quality CDM and possible quality back up striker to give competition and back up to Awonyi 🤔

      I hope to got me get another centre back and then he might get rid of this formation that leaves us playing round pegs in square holes, I really hate it, we started last season with it and he changed it when it wasn’t working but now somehow it’s gunna work.

      def an interesting signing,speed,typical Argy aggression,good addition ,a world cup winner,this is a bit of a coup for Forest,the other guy Dominguez looks a player as well.

      I don't get this unless we sell Serge for decent money for ffp. Serge whip's a lovely cross and should be looked at as one of our best attacking options. We need a hard tackling central midfielder and have all summer, not another fuckin full back.

      I just want defenders who can defend, how hard can it be, we’ve signed 34 players but still can’t put 4 decent defenders on the pitch.

      I remember just before and after the world cup the 4-3-3 was our best formation and we were playing rlly good football but we need players like kouyate who were ballers before injury to get back to full and start to play like they used to then we can get some good results

      Felipe Rodrigues da Silva (Morato) actually has the ‘CD’ acronym in his CV. He does look tidy and still a boy.

      I just had a look at a vid of him, we certainly don’t have one of them ATM!

      Still need CDM and CD then we finish an easy too half if we play the right tactics – at this rate our players will forget how to play anything other than low low block

      Quick question and I'll probably bring it up again in a live stream but after hearing motiel.. he needs to learn English quickly, how many Spanish speaking players do we have? Felipe I guess with him being at athletico. I do hope he fits in with the squad!
