  1. I don't agree on the call out to Leao.
The reason he looks "lazy" is not only due to lack of condition, it's Piolis doing.
In the pre-game press conference (or post match with bologna, I don't remeber) he said what I was suspecting all along.
He doesn't want leao to press or run after the opposition, he needs to, and I quote, "run less after the opposition, to be ready, in the right position, when the ball gets back in our possesion" or something like that AND to be much more "selfish" when in posession.
He wants him to try and dribble more because he has the quality to do so, to grant us that advantage on 1v1s.
Plus he honestly played very well yesterday, only problem was that he didn't lift his darn head up when he was about to cross.
He always did it all right, up until the cross.
Other than that, solid performance imo šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

  2. I understand how the first pen was somewhat disputible because the defender's head was behind the hand, It's still a penalty. The second one was a clear pen: The defender steps on Rafa's ankle when he no longer has the ball. It's a clear foul and in the box, penalty.

I think we are discovering a new Rafa: Diezel Leao. He will deliver, but takes time to start. Theo…. That's the second yellow in as many games for complaining to the ref…. He has to stop that.

  3. The second penalty was definitely 100% penalty. It’s a foul in the penalty box, defender stepped on a players ankle after he passed the ball, that’s 100% foul and a yellow card

  4. Leao actually played quite well, in my opinion. His passing/crossing in the penalty area was a bit off at times. On the other hand, though, he made a bunch of crazy runs, got a smart assist for Theo, and won a penalty after another crazy run (Reijnders should have finished the chance anyway)

  5. I mean i would rather have they played the old formation:

    Oliver/okafor
    Leao. Pulisich. Chuwkeze
    Ruben. Rejinders/Musah
    Hernandez thiaw tomori. Kalulu

  6. Keep in mind that LeĆ£o was directly/indirectly involved in three of our goals. Harsh to say he’s not doing well when he’s the one creating the space for others with his presence.

  7. If the problems in Italian football are aging infrastructure and racism, and they are – then we must individually examine the problems, causes, solutions as well as who is responsible for delivering the solutions. I think you’d find that FIGS (Serie A), as the quasi government agency that it is, is hardly the culprit let alone the saviour on both issues. Are there things the league can do to better the game viewing experience? Absolutely!

As for the Torino game, I thought Milan played a lot better against a tactically more difficult opposition. Torino’s aggressive man-marking defence presented problems in possession – but once Milan started taking on their markers and breaking the lines, it became easier to get to Torino’s goal. I thought everyone had a good game, including Leao, who had 2 goal contributions (including the second penalty). He’s most effective when he unselfishly plays for the team – but is still learning his new and more positional role in this modified 433. For me, the key players were Thiaw and Tomori who for once were unafraid to carry the ball forward and break down Torino’s defence, as well as Maignan with his near-perfect ball distribution ability and execution, unlike the game at Bologna. In short, this performance was a manifestation of Milan’s depth this season.

It’s only the second game of the season, and there’s a long way to go. Great video as always and Forza Milan ā¤ļøšŸ–¤

  8. I watched the whole game and I missed the part where Pulisic could’ve scored ā€œanother 2 or 3 goalsā€. That’s always the narrative with him. Nothing is good enough

  9. I love the commentary, but I just can’t listen to the mis-pronunciation of Pulisic over and over and over. I understand you are using the ā€œethnically correctā€ -ich pronunciation, but it’s not how pronounces it, therefore it is wrong and disrespectful.

  10. IN WHAT REALITY WE DIDNT PLAY AS A 4-1 Team? Are you serious. Stop with the crying. We completely dominated the game since minute 1. The scored a lucky bounce goal but the rest was all us. So stop with the bullshit and give credit to the team.

  11. I 100% agree with your whole analysis, and just to add to what you said, On a bad day those penalty calls can easily be against us, it's important for the right calls to be made at any point in the season.

  12. Dude are you ok? How is Giroud a green box he literally did nothing outside of score the penalties. You should’ve given it to Leao who created both penalties plus Theo’s goal. That’s like three assists he created out of nothing. He punished Schurr every single time he had the ball, theo was great for creating that space necessary for the 1 v1 . Sure we can say we want to hold him to a higher standard but you kind of ruined it with Giroud being a green box. All I can say is lazy grading here.

  13. I think the attacking front is slowly buidling a nice chemestry, Leao is the dribbling speed demon who drags alot of the defenders with his movement and link up with Theo, Giroud is the big target man ready to recieve the ball from the wingers and Pulisic is the Playmaker in charge of both creating and finishing the goal chances.

Regardless of Leao's performance, i am glad that we now don't have to rely on him as much as we used to in the previous seasons and that gives him more freedom to play at what he is good at.

  14. Pulisic had a bit harder time because of the Torino marking system, I reckon at least. Torino played an intense man to man marking system which required the players to move around a lot and create quick passing linkups. It seems to me that Pulisic works better against a more zonal marking system since it’s easier to pick out spaces to move into and pass into. When he’s forced to play back to goal, fighting off players on the dribble, and making mad dashes behind the backline he’s not quite there compared to when he’s got a bit more space to receive the ball and turn and connect for the 1-2s around the box. I’m going to keep my eyes open and see if that continues to happen throughout the season. In such cases Chukweze would likely be a better option.

Giroud was a masterclass signing. Sure, he’s older but the man performs and loves his role in the team. He has spent his whole career fighting against being the second striker on big teams, including France battling with Benzema. Here at Milan he carved out his spot and has done wonderfully. He’s no Haaland but he is GIROUD!

Thank you for the Krunic shoutout. Despite Krunic not being the best player in Milan, he is one of my very favorites on the team. Always so dedicated and flexible. And he really has improved a ton since he first joined. I used to seem him as a mistake prone, unreliable backup. Not he tends to make less mistakes than others on the field and is incredibly reliable. His technical skills have increased 10 fold. His composure on the ball has gotten better. And he’s always up for a sneaky defensive tackle to win the ball in important transitions. His passing is usually pretty darn good too. Keeps it simple but sometimes plays a good cheeky pass to break a line or two. He stepped up in big games last season so I think he’ll do it again. He’s been waiting for his moment to become a first team player. Now he’s got it and I think he’ll do well

Eh. Can’t be too hard on Reijnders. He’s new. He’s young. The San Siro is intense. He’ll get there. I bet he scores between 5-10 goals this season. He’s too good not to. I’d be all up in arms if we didn’t win though. But because the game so was comfortable I’m okay with him wasting his chances here rather than in times when we need him. I used to make the same critique of Bennecer because he wasted good chances. But then he’d score in other games and win us the game with his goals. So let’s hope he steps up in the big games.

RLC was great yesterday. I think if you could combine RLC and Reijnders into one player you’d have someone that resembled Tonali, but better. RLC is stronger and drives forward with the ball better. Reijnders is technically more gifted and passes far superior. Combine those attributes on the field between the two players and we have a stronger midfield altogether. And now with our strengthened right wing we don’t need a #10 in the form of Diaz. We have enough creative potential with 3 midfielders which gives us extra cover, where we were missing last season.

Theo seems a bit tired lately. He’s also being asked to play far more inverted and he seems a little lost at times. I’m not sure it’s a good move tbh. He’s so good at receiving the ball out wide and connected with Leao to break through the lines. But maybe we’ll see him transform a bit in the season and really take up that midfield role.

Thiaw! My guy! He was great. Torino man marked everyone hard, making it difficult to play out of the back. So Thiaw just broke two defensive lines by dribbling right through like twice! Very intelligent. Very well composed. Can’t wait to see him mature and become a top flight defender. Also incredibly humble and grateful for his opportunities. We’ll see him absolutely shine!

Good shoutout against the league. Been saying this for years. Italian clubs cannot compete if the league doesn’t fight for them.

  15. This goes to show how bad chelsea is as a club. So many players leave that club throughout the years and play brilliantly at a new team. It’s something about Chelsea, maybe it’s the fans or maybe it’s something else

  16. Christian Pulisic has always been good. The EPL just gatekept him with fouls constantly. Serial A will grow massively if he gets protected.

  17. Pulisic has always been great when playing in open space or on the counter. His best years at Chelsea were under Lampard, the first time around.

  18. Pulisic is too smart, (like Reijnders), he can do everything on the pitch and he can play in any position, because he's smart, (Leao, who has the potential to get into the top 5 in the world, needs to learn a lot from Pulisic), of course he can do something wrong but the concept and vision are always perfect, he understands football. I have to say thanks to Chelsea for the Pulisic gift and for the Loftus-Cheek gift, imagine what a disaster that club must have been in recent years to waste such strong players. Tonali, Messias/Saelemaekers and Brahim Diaz have left Milan and 3 great players have entered such as Reijnders, Pulisic and Loftus-Cheek and the team has multiplied the quality, (and we still have to insert Chukwueze, Okafor and Musah). Loftus is a Tonali but much stronger, Reijnders is the quality we lacked, (but Pioli can't make him run 12/13km every game like against Turin and Bologna because he destroys him Tijani is not a hard worker like Tonali and one who creates and what should you do cmgol and assist, if he makes him run so much then he's not lucid at the time of the goal or assist, yesterday if he had run less he would have scored 1 or 2 goals), Pulisic is intelligence and quality. Guys, with the next transfer market session, Milan can go back to playing for something big even in the Champions League. we're coming back šŸ˜€
