✅Arsenal close to signing world-class star, but who will it be?đŸ¤”đŸ¤”Rrsenal news transfer|Arsenal news
Arsenal are close to signing Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Laporte has slipped down the pecking order at City this season, with Ruben Dias and John Stones forming a solid partnership in central defence. The Spaniard has made just 11 appearances in all competitions this season and is reportedly keen to move on in search of regular playing time.

Arsenal are in need of central defense reinforcements after losing William Saliba to Marseille on loan, and Laporte would be a huge upgrade to their current options. The 28-year-old is a proven Premier League player and would bring a wealth of experience to the Gunners’ back-line.

City are reportedly charging a £50m fee for the defender, but Arsenal are confident they can strike a deal for a lower price. The Gunners are also facing competition from Barcelona for Laporte’s signature, but are confident they can convince him to join their ranks.

If Arsenal manage to sign Laporte, it would be a huge blow for the club and help solve their “serious problem” in central defence. The centre-back would be a solid back-line presence and give the Gunners more options in defence.

Arsenal are in a good position to sign Laporte and the deal is likely to close in the coming weeks.
