Arsenal are close to signing Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Laporte has slipped down the pecking order at City this season, with Ruben Dias and John Stones forming a solid partnership in central defence. The Spaniard has made just 11 appearances in all competitions this season and is reportedly keen to move on in search of regular playing time.
Arsenal are in need of central defense reinforcements after losing William Saliba to Marseille on loan, and Laporte would be a huge upgrade to their current options. The 28-year-old is a proven Premier League player and would bring a wealth of experience to the Gunners’ back-line.
