  1. Its the Paul Scholes situation again. England was crying out for a creative linking creator player.
Kane, Saka, Sterling, Mount, Rashford etc are great at getting into the box… but who is going to get the ball to them?

  2. Noticed how Wales put Moore up top and went more direct and got at the states back 4. Their midfield press is clearly their strength. This was a game for Wilson and Kane. Kane dropping into 10 as he naturally does. Would always start foden too on the left. Kane was so isolated. Poor game management and team selection. Picking the same side 3 days later has backfired . Now we're forced to make changes and still need a win to top the group. Opportunity lost.

  3. I have no respect for people who defend Gareth Southgate's decisions. The guy has no clue on how to win a game. Also, what game was Stuart watching to say Mount had a good game. Pity Maddison has an injury, when fit he should start. I'm sure Foden or Grealish would have done better at 10 then Mount. He's starting Maguire every game FFS

  4. Jack Wilshere was once labelled "a generational talent" in certain quarters of British media, too.
And how did that work out?

  5. The fact we're talking about not bringing on one of our best players because he might not track the opposition fullback well enough is exactly the negative mindset that England fans have had enough of. It was the USA, not Brazil or France. Are we really that bad that we're worried about getting beat by average national teams?

Southgate doesn't like Foden because he doesn't know how to use him because he's such a basic manager. Same reason he doesn't like Alexander-Arnold.

  6. I didn't watch the game but watched the highlights, although clearly not a great performance it was England who had most chances both halves so I'm struggling to understand the catastrophe each pundit keeps giving

  7. It’s funny how all the English are saying Southgate is saving foden for the good games and when they get knocked out the same people will want Southgate hung off London Bridge πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚Southgate wouldn’t manage a good fart

  8. Another form of defence is attack. I think what is most vital for Southgate to understand is the opposition are looking at past England games and what do they see, they are not interested in media favourites, politics or agendas, they are interested in facts. This is common sense. Firstly, they will see that in the European championships one man made England tick, one man was the biggest threat and whenever one man is quiet or kept out of the game England is quiet and that man is Raheem Sterling. They will see that Italy beat England in the European cup final by focusing on one thing and that is to keep one man out of the game and that is Raheem Sterling. They will see that when England beat Iran 6-2, of the first four goals scored, one man was involved in 3 of those goals. Raheem Sterling. He helped drive the team forward for the first goal in which his pass for Shaw was so perfect and lethal, Shaw had only to cross the ball with no adjusting of the balls position and without breaking a stride, and so within 5 seconds of the ball leaving Sterling's foot in the move involving three players, the ball was in the back of the net. They will see that Sterling gave the assist to Saka's goal and they will see that Sterling also scored. The point here is that we have to take seriously the importance of Sterling to this team and to understand that to take him off when things are not going well is a retreat that makes the team worse not better. It's a concession England cannot afford anymore than Argentina taking off a Messi or Maradona that are such an important route of their success. In the games where England do not play well, the reason Sterling has a quiet game is because the opposition know that to make England weaker or quiet, they must make Sterling have a quiet game by stopping his England team mates getting the ball to him. They know they cannot afford to let Sterling be given the ball at the edge of the final third because if he has the space, he is relentlessly offensively aggressive and will deliver a dangerous attacks without hesitation if the slightest opportunity is there and execute it successfully. They know that if he is in the final third, receives the ball and has the space, he will deliver an assist, the historical stats of the England team and his club football games tell them this. They also know that he will find space for goal scoring positions in the box and if his team mates successfully get the ball to him, he is most likely to score, again because the historical stats tell them this. These are facts England too must take very seriously and take advantage of. To remove Sterling from a game as we saw against America and as we saw against Croatia in the last world cup, is literally removing these threats obtained from one player from the England team and so doing the opposition an extraordinary favour. If someone says I will ensure your most important and dangerous player we fear most does not receive the ball or ensure he does not have space to play, your response should not be, well then I will replace him with a less effective player you do not fear. That is crazy and it is what pundits and commentators are suggesting often with an agenda against the player and because they have media favourites, but it is not something the England manager should be looking at. The solution should be to say 'well I will take the steps necessary to ensure this player does receive the ball and does receive the space and everything you are attempting to do to stop him, because you fear him will fail, and you will have to work even harder to stop him, so much so that you are so committed to stopping him this frees up the rest of my team to have more opportunities. If my other players are not taking those opportunities created for them by your commitment to stopping Sterling, it is they that will be replaced with others who will take advantage of these opportunities and our end objective will still then be realised of keeping the threat you fear paying dividends to us. What should not happen is that the England manager takes off the proven most dangerous player in the team to the opposition and who their main strategy is to stop, because then you are simply helping them achieve their objective and their strategy has worked. Sterling should never be taken off as a strategy if this is avoidable except to rest him and protect him from injury if he needs this protection. To do so is crazy! Even when Sterling has a quiet game because the ball is not getting to him, he is still having an impact because it means a lot of commitment is being given to him by the opposition and so freeing up other players in the England team who should be taking advantage of this and if they do not, then it is they that should be removed just for that game and replaced with those who may take advantage, as it is clearly not their day or because the opportunities being left by the opposition in their commitment to stopping Sterling are opportunities that may suit another players style of play. If other England players succeed in taking advantage of the opportunities created by the opposition being so committed to keep Sterling out of the game, then the plan of stopping England by stopping their most dangerous player becomes ineffective and the opposition will have to either drop that plan and so free up Sterling again who will then punish them or they will have to settle for keeping Sterling quiet, but leaving the rest of the England team more space to be dangerous. It's as simple as that. Like it or not, we have to understand that Sterling keeps showing he is the main man. Iran did not understand that and paid the price with the first 4 England goals of the game in which Sterling was involved as a major influencer and contributor in 3 of the goals. The American team did not make the same mistake as Iran who did not take the Sterling threat seriously and if America were one of the better or stronger teams in the competition, they would have gone on to make major changes to take full advantage of the threat of Sterling being removed or substituted and won that game. Peace and love

  9. First, I will say that Mount is vital to the England team balance of defence and attack and is playing brilliantly doing a role that nobody can do better on the England bench, except possibly Bellingham, but he is not on the bench. He simply needs to get some goals for England as he does with Chelsea to make him an unbelievable player for England. Foden and Graelish on the other hand are defensive liabilities for England in a way they are not with Man City because Man City keep the ball for 60 to 70 percent of the game which England do not, especially against strong teams. Peace and love

  10. Completley wrong Stuart , its all about sponsors wanting there players on show, Southgate does not pick the side the FA does , he is a yes man thats why no one else took the job , sponsors means $$$$ for the FA . PAYS THERE HUGE SALARIES

  11. this is the most sober analysis have seen. Everyone crying Foden Foden, yet Foden does not have pace, he is not know for dribbling or holding the ball longer to bring other players into play, yet everyone thinks he's the savior. USA team where on top at that position, pressing more and looked more athletic, you don't need a Foden type player. Foden is good when you have a pressing team like Man city all players are close by therefore he can run into those smart positions playing one two. this game South gate made the right changes. Rashford is faster than Saka, he can also score. Greylish holds the ball better than Sterling.England fans thinking they should have won the game are crazy it was a difficult match and a draw favors England more

  12. Is he possbily being saved and rested to be injury free for the knockouts? Just a thought, but that way he's like a secret weapon that will be unleashed later. I think Southgate is thinking in broader terms for the whole tournament, not just each game. Im not sure, but thats the only explanation that I can find

  13. Madison and foden need to play.. Sterling and mount have been poor all season but yet again pratgate has his favorites I hope Tomori becomes world class and chooses not to play for England i am fed up with this boring sideways football from pratgate

  14. Foden gets in a city team that's better than the England team . πŸ€·β€β™€οΈProbably because city have a real manger
