Definition of admiring true values – well done !!
Modric is a bit overrated in my opinion. I'm not saying he's poor quality or anything like that but people always talk about him like he's some kind of God. I don't think he's that good or incredible like folks say he is. I've seen many much better midfielders, Rosicky, Arteta, Özil, Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard, Di Maria, Messi, Busquets, Zidane, Ballack, Alonso, Xavi and Iniesta just to name a bunch.
Jesus he’s overrating Modric by quite a bit
Only Zidane is better, maybe you could argue for Iniesta, outside of those, yes, he's the best, 100% and it's not even close.

He might not have the Galacticos around him for Croatia but to be fair he's had some quality guys around him. Rakitic was world class and not a bad midfield partner. This year he had Kovacic who has been at the highest level since 18, Brozovic probably underrated outside of Italy.

Best midfield in the world with Modric, Kovacic, Brozovic , Rakitic before, Kranjcar was a top technician in the past who linked well with Modric, Lovro Majer will be a top midfielder, add in Perisic in his prime before, Mandzukic, Srna and Eduardo before too, Gvardiol is the best defender in world football and so many other top players Croatia have had through the years that Modric played with. They've always been a top team. This fella is clueless …
The key word to his success: humility. A quality the world is running short of. Probably the reason why he is so recognized and admired.
Croatia has quality in their team but Modric is a different level. I have watched Luka since his early days in Dinamo Zagreb. You could see then his football brain and technique was on a different level. What surprised me about about Modric is how he has become a great leader and captain for the national team. I didn’t think that was in him. This World Cup their midfield was really good but they were lacking quality up front. Having ball playing center back like Gvardiol also helped as they did not have that type player in defense in 2018.
