Pep and Jurgen were really stubborn and dense last year. Week after week with Gomez sat on the bench and Trent drowning at fullback while the whole football world laughed at us, with Fab and Hendo creaking in midfield and some of the best midfield prospects in Europe languishing out of position or on the bench. Salah and Nunez playing together leaving us 9 v 11 in defense game in game out. Squad filler from 3 or 4 years ago still hanging around because of misplaced loyalty. Very poor management. When we finally fixed it with Jones promoted and Trent in his natural position and Darwin on the bench we immediately improved. A miracle!
I think they were turned around by what happened the year before and basically didn't have enough of a fire under them to renew the squad and sort our problems. Pep and his book was the ridiculous symbol of their loss of focus. I love Jurgen but I'd not have been overly troubled if he was let go at xmas and we'd hjave got De Zerbi instead of Brighton. Coaches come and go and when they slip off the level and aren't replaced it can mess with a whole club. Expect a lot better this year.

Rewatching these goals i realized one thing ill definately miss Bobby Firmino
i think i know exactly what klopp saw in carvalho, i don't like how in the rangers away ucl game he almost looked mad when salah scored instead of passing it to him. I get he's hungry and eager but almost being unhappy your team mate scored is disgraceful.
