He passes the ball quicker
Seems crazy to say this considering the fortune we just spent on him, but he is not in Arsenal's strongest XI right now IMO. Partey has to start if he's fit and I wouldn't sacrifice any of our more attacking players so that Rice could play.
This is a very good footballer. He needs a some time time to adapt to style Arsenal. West Ham plays defensive football, Arsenal plays nice offensive football. His game looks better and better.
He is a very good DM but not in the class of Partey. not sure why anyone thought he is a CM, he is not direct enough, he also doesn't like to carry the ball.
I think fans are picky and we’re hoping he would make mazy runs with the ball, charging at the opposition. This won’t happen all the time 😂 but it will. He is much quicker than xhaka and he will compete with havertz.
Anyone judging his value on one 20 min. appearance against the MLS, and 2/3rds of this game is an absolute imbecile. Reminds me of everyone calling Haaland a flop for having a horrible game against Liverpool in the community shield last year and missing a sitter. Everyone said he was done and horrible. See what happened?
Two things to note here. He's clearly not match fit. He had to miss the last game and he had a knock. Then to come and start this game closer to preseason as everyone else is in decent form, it's hard. The second thing is that this is a completely new role for him. He's used to playing Partey's role but now he is playing xhaka's role which is a slightly more offensive and fluid position. It's more work so if you aren't fit you are going to struggle.
I'm telling you Rice is going to be HUGE for us this season. The lack of patience for even a few preseason games from Arsenal "fans" is astonishing. I can tell who has never played any sort of higher level football in their lives and doesn't actually understand the game.

Rice will be a great addition to Arsenal, who cares if he costed 100m, at the end of the day if his performances improves the team than it’s money well spent. With football inflation 100m spent on a player will be the new normal in a few years.
