Dan is here with the news that Jordan Henderson is due to have a medical with Al-Ettifaq in the next 48 hours and that Liverpool are interested in Fulham’s Defensive Midfielder Joao Palhinha and PSG’s Marco Veratti. Other news includes Klopp dismissing reports he will be leaving to manage Germany and that Man City want Nicolo Barella.

Right now, our main midfielders are Mac Allister Szoboszlai, Elliott, and Jones. Trent isn't even a midfielder. We don't even have enough midfielders to feature a full match squad until everyone is fit.

If Henderson had not been such a fervent supporter of LGTB rights there would not have been such an uproar about the Saudi deal. He clearly has put himself in a difficult position, but can you really blame him for revising his principles in the light of such a luxurious offer?

Hendo made it about more than football and that made him a great captain. Then he went for the sportwashing money. He needs to just go quietly and stay quiet. Don't need a farewell statement, don't need a letter to the supporters, don't need any YNWA hashtags out of him.
A signing lof palhinha calibre seems the most likely of any signing. But I would like one of 2 midfielders to be a proven world class player.
Feel like keeping thiago is a waste of money. I think he be willing to leave and then wages can be used on a genuine world class player. Even if we have to sell more than we get in.
João Palhinha, good player. Had great season at Fulham last campaign. Too old and too expensive. Fulham seem to be asking for a ridiculous fee, somewhere in the neighborhood of £65-£70m, which is far too much for him. Also, he’s already 28, that’s too old for a player that is coming in during this midfield rebuild

Palhinha wouldn’t have been my first choice but if somehow a deal could be agreed for around 50 mil I’d be happy with that. Definitely a great player and a boost to our starting 11. Gives us a good cushion to look for a new younger CDM in the future so we can get a LCD
Robbo as captain for me – Virg not vocal enough. Caicedo – who is a very good player – for 80 not happening but Lavia for 40 with addons should be a no brainer tbh.

Problem is fabinho is 29 – Palhinha is 28 and 29 this year, he had a good season last year but for how long is that going to go on? i think we need Lavia AND Palhinha if we lose hendo/fabinho.
Amazing how many players with 1 season in the prem are now worth 60m+, they were average £20m players 12 months ago come on
Amrabat has been playing Serie A for multiple seasons, and is like 40m, and wont be expecting to play every minute every week like a 80m one season wonder will, which means Lavia can still get a decent amount of appearances!
Tyler Adams might be best bet when you weigh everything up. Extremely underrated, captain of his country(Leader), Prem experience, aggression, good in the tackle, good on the ball, good passer and i think he could be signed for around 40m and hes a good age. Makes sense.
In terms of age, availability, price, (still bonkers) & also some prem experience, Doucoure looks like the best bet imo. Although whether he's good enough long term or not, I have no idea. Palhinha is a decent player & would be good to go from day one but as mentioned he's only got 2 or 3 peak seasons in him tops & he's way way too expensive. Not happening.
'For just this window' – it's not jst about this window though is it? IF we had planned and recruited regularly and properly since the the CL win, ( i.e as in the Boot Room days ) we wouldn't be in this position.

My issue with Palhinha is hes already 28? Typically we go for 24-26 age range. 1 good season with an over overforming Fulham likely to cost around £35-50m

We should be signing two players who transform the team then try and develop the young players. Klopp said Clarke looks good, Gordon, Elliot, Bradley. If Liverpool spent 200 million on Gvardiol and Caicedo it would mean Liverpool are set for a long time.
