This is One NZ Warriors CEO Cameron George as open and honest as we’ve ever heard him.
From building the ultimate gameday experience for fans, to wanting the NRL to do more for rugby league in New Zealand, and the hopes for his club going forward, George goes in-depth on a range of issues and questions with SENZ’s Mark Stafford and Sam Hewat.

Oh!, I guess I'm the Manoa Thompson of this comment run. Up the Wahs-Zoo! 🤙
What a phenomenal in depth interview. I'm so confident in the plan that Cam & the club have for clubs future. WAH POWER!!!
I love everything I hear, the club is in good hands 🙌
Great interview guys!
Cheers! Cameron George
speaks very well❤️💙💚
Massive turnaround this year!
I have been asking for this business model for years. More bums on seats creates interest and gets the next generation interested. I try to relive things I found awesome as a kid. Only to find it way to expensive and no one there. With a shit atmosphere
NOOO! Team song is sacred! Only to be sung after winning and only in the sheds. You're turning it into a gimmick. As a fan, I don't want it. Team song is not a Club song
Incredible chat, clear to see how passionate Cameron is about pathways and development, and amazing honestly to see him talk about his clear disappointment with the NRL and their general support or lack thereof for the Warriors and NZRL.
I've never particularly doubted Cameron George, but this interview really truly sold me that he is the right guy leading the club.
Love this chat, shot Cameron 👊🔥 upthewahssss
Hats off to the content, marketing and brand team of the Warriors. Good to see the CEO appreciates the role they play. The content game has lifted massively this year and genuinely feel I'm engaging with Warriors content every day.
What a game Friday Night. The Chant was crazy! Would love the team to be on field next time we do it. Up the Waahhs!!!
Kiwi living in Australia, even in third its tough to get a mention of the warriors come to any media here. Warriors made a huge sacrifice over covid and heard nothing since they returned. Only the NRL teams made an effort. Half of NRL is a NZ/Islander and yet get bugger all. Tigers are dead last and get 50% of the airtime for their horrible management.
Yeah when your team is doing crap then you have take all the heat and dis from fans media and the like and still be here after, U deserve to reep the benifits when it turns around.Good on ya Cameron u deserve the good oil now that's y u get paid the big bucks.
I luv how everyone in the warriors club and management remain humble EVEN IN defeat. We’ve worn the “Entertaining Losers” banner many many years and it’s sooooo good to see all the fruits of the clubs labor FINALLY paying off! But… the job is not over yet, one game at a time boys. UP THE WAHS
Thanks Cameron for the insights.
As a Wah fan I’am disappointed in the ARL and CRL signing pathway deals with Manly and Bulldogs! Bloody traitors!
Honestly i talked shit about this guy but he has changed my opinion on him. He is for the club
Bring back the bartercard cup
The problem with keeping talent here in New Zealand is a multi-faceted problem, New Zealand has less opportunities, Australia you make more money, cost of living is less (Unless you live in CBD of said Australian city), the competition is well established and the pathways are well established. It's a sad reality but these kids have to get their own until some of the fundamental issues with living in New Zealand are fixed.
I was quite critical of Cam George during the off season. Happy to eat my words and say he’s done a remarkable job in the last 12 months.
Incredible insights! What a great look into the ins and outs of the Warriors space. Great views and perspectives on things.
The fact you can take your own food/drinks is a huge win for me I love it! Keeps me and my family coming back. Better than going to the movies
That’s it. Massive Cam George fan now. His answer about Abdo and NRL… wow! What a legend
Warriors for ever!! For ever Warriors!! This CEO has the faith just like the fans from NZ and Australia. We believe in Webby and Tohu. Let just get it on!!😛👍☝!! Go out Hard 😠😤😡 "Warriors"
That was great to listen to.
Gus Gould tried to build an academy for RL however it shows these leagues are only interested in their own pockets or they are associated with Rugby Union. Shame on CRL and ARL. Now I am wondering why ORL is invited to the national league, wonder if the have to sign with a Aussie club?
Yeah, I was at the Ellerslie Eagles Club recently – thinking that these 30 young teenagers in Red, White & Blue assuming they were Ellerslie players, it turns out
they're a Roosters pathway team coached by former Warriors fullback Brent Webb plus the Roosters signed Webby's son & offered him a coaching role too.
Cam George talking about fan experience, Is something NO other code of sport seems to want to put time into …. Whilst the ticket is for the 80 mins on the park, the experience is what pulls people back to any sport. NZR take note..
regarding the other NRL sides taking regions of NZ.. NZRL need to step up to stop this, it can't be held to the Warriors (Franchise). The table discussion needs to be had with U18 & U20s for the main centres.. Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton, Auckland (2 sides).. Link all these sides into University & Polytechnic facilities so that the young men and woman are getting an education along side playing there code.. Would love to see this developed with League as a pathway compared to jumping across the ditch..
Broncks fan here, in Brisbane, loving the Warriors at the moment. Reminds me a lot of the Cowboys in 2016.
I was at that GF and said to a family of Cowboys supporters that if they win I wont be too upset (I was EXTREMELY wrong, I was and still am very, very upset). But, I'll say the exact same thing about the Warriors, if its a Bronx v Wahs GF and the Wahs win, it'll be a bittersweet time for me, but am loving the Wahs and what they are doing for Rugby League.
Be like panthers. So many sponsors. Maybe these businesses can back a nz comp for sure. And we need another nrl team in nz. Why they added the dolphins, was silly. Shouldve added another nz team to promote the game.
Haven't been a big supporter of the warriors, after listening to Cameron his vision and passion not only for the warriors but for league in general, you know the club is looking bright for the future, more has to be said about the NRL and not showing supporting to NZ league, covid warriors sacrificed, but then NRL take state of origin to Adelaide and Vegas, wtf is that telling you, evening listening to the other bias commentary and nrl shows, they still cant/ don't see warriors winning the comp, for that reason I'll jump on the train, stick it to the nrl 2 x home finals in Auckland followed by a grand final….good luck warriors from a Parramatta supporter
We have done so amazingly well with lip service from the NRL.
Gee he was honest about how little they have done for us . Good on you
Finally! This is the best interview Cam George has given. I am glad he has now spoken out about it. It's what has been grinding my gears for years! Our Jr Warriors were the best prospects for the up & coming talent, people forget this & then wonder why we don't have another team in the NRL!
I know the secret to their success. Honest hard work, just need SJ to be focused (smile after you win lol) on the day too and the other seniors leading because the younger ones are willing to fight for their spots.
New Zealand were at one stage World Cup Champs in Rugby League, Rugby, 7's, Touch Rugby all in one period. You would think they would pour more into local competitions because the whole world wants NZ players, coaches, trainers, mentors.
Up the Wahs!
this man has so many great ideas and is stonewalled by certain factions that operate within the nrl head offices
