  1. That’s crazzzyyyy I can’t believe Matt turner started in our z team….
I would rate this summer a 8 out of ten…

  2. First actual team was awesome. Play your best and you have a shot at not only building chemistry with confidence but also doing some damage. Second we learned that teams picked Berhalter still get taken out. There is no room for having favorites but it is a pushed agenda by the U.S federation to build MLS credibility which in reality it sucks. Third which is a negative Berhalter is back.

  3. I agree, if you focus strictly on the performance over the summer it was successful. You can't say for sure what the future under Berhalter will look like, so that's for the future not for now.

  4. BJ put out the best possible A team squad and the worst possible D roster. He goes out as the most schizophrenic coach ever.

  5. Games that mattered, NL- we showed up, team looked pretty good. Success.
Personally, I came in with minimal expectations for GC as I don't place much importance in it anymore because obviously US Soccer doesn't and…. I read the roster. Would have been nice if we'd utilized the tourney a little more effectively with every minute going to players that have actual long term potential. We tried a few new faces out, but wasted too much time/roster spots on players who won't do a thing going forward, but Neal, Reynolds, Cowell…. mayyyyybe Jones had flashes. I wanted them to win, but I suppose the bright side of them fizzling out in such tepid mediocrity is that the team and individual players assembled pretty much played at their level. Had they overachieved, pulled miracles out of their backside, it would have been too easy to justify elevating them. LoL we tried… hype train had some momentum after pummeling Caribbean minnows. I'm not sure any of that actually matters to Gregg though. History tells us it's quite likely Gregg gonna do what Gregg's gonna do, obvious aside.

  6. Trying the 4 2 3 1 was nice in that we got to see a different style of play. And there may be times where we need to use that vs the typical 4 3 3 of GGG. Excited for the future, just hope Greg doesn't screw it up

  7. 6/10. Gold Cup doesn’t detract as much as re-hiring Berhalter. The depth of USMNT is not good. I sure wish we would have just taken the U-20 team with some of the better players on the names squad. I hope if the team because structured and lacks creativity in Copa America we let Berhalter go and get a real coach.

  8. I give this summer a B grade. Minus points for the the Gold Cup result and the whole process of rehiring Gregg and acting like they were going to hire someone else

  9. This summer was just ok. Our A Team looks great going into Copa America… but on the other hand our B/C/D team did not look great and Gregg still being in charge is disappointing imo.

  10. We could have won the u20 World Cup. The nations league & the gold cup. Bringing back Berhalter would still make the summer a total & complete failure….

  11. You know how the saying goes… one step forward, two steps back. Nations League domination was the step forward. 3G rehire and Gold Cup were the two steps back. Ussf love too kill the momentum of this team, as long as they are lining their pockets with MLS money. Can't help but see it as a failure…

  12. Keep try again Tac and USMNT. Lots of good roster player you can rotate. During your major tournament FIFA calendars for 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup United States and Canada, I can see a good result over there, so keep it up. I want to see your full lineup during upcoming 2023/24 Concacaf Nations League because this one is serve qualifiers for 2024 Copa America in your home, besides they are 16 team in your edition. 10 Conmebol team and 6 Concacaf team which means your Concacaf team need to be semi final 2023/24 Concacaf Nations League finals and qualify in this Copa America, the rest of them heading into play off on 2 spots up of grabs to complete your 6 Concacaf team. Good luck, Tac. Greetings from Malaysia fans. 🇲🇾🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏

  13. It's a success because our best 23 showed that they have continued to improve since Qatar. A lot of these guys had some difficult club situations and took the opportunity to show what they're capable of against Mexico and Qatar.

I wish more fringe players on the Gold Cup roster took their opportunity to stand out, but it's not the end of the world. Some players did take a step forward, and it wouldnt surprise me if a few of them are on the 2026 team. And Panama are no slouches, either.

  14. A bunch of passes, without threatening the defense by penetration, from the ‘horseshoe of nonthreatening possession’ – that is the GGG system

  15. here are my thoughts before watching the video: i saw the summer as a neutral. getting Balogun and winning the nations league in dominant fashion were positives. rehiring Berhalter and getting embarrassed in the gold cup were negatives (Berhalter is a negative for now at least, there is always that chance that he proves us all wrong). obviously, we will have a more definitive answer as time moves along, but for now, i see it as a wash. the result at the gold cup, c team or not, was too embarrassing for me to call this summer a win. doesnt matter if its our MLS guys (and not necessarily all of our best MLS guys either), the expectation is that the USA makes it to the final every single time. Panama were deserved winners against us and we wouldnt have been able to say that we were unlucky if we had lost to Canada in the quarters. with all that said, we move. time to root for our guys abroad and hope for some development in preparation for Copa America, which is where this group can rly prove to the world that they mean business in this cycle (assuming the top teams bring their best players to CA24)

  16. This just shows MLS is still not as competitive as the European leagues. Young US players should still strive to compete in Europe while MLS continues to focus on develop young US players.

  17. While our NL performances were very promising the GC roster was a huge disappointment. GC was back to Berhaulter Ball (ineffective possession and wild crosses to no-one). USSF failed the fanbase and players by re-hiring Gregg and calling a bunch of MLS lifers/retreads that we already knew were incapable of competing against Mid-Level CONCACAF Opponents. This was a lost opportunity to either stake our claim for dominance in the region or prep the next generation of players (where were the U20 stand-outs, where were the rest of the fringe Euro players?). Only new bit we learned from the GC is that Neal has potential and that Zendejas isn't as good as we'd hoped. Everyone else we saw from the player pool we already knew.
I said in a response below I'd give Gregg a chance to prove he's learned from his past mistakes, but the leash is short. He has to repair the relationship with Gio. He has to stop calling up his MLS Lifers/Retreads. And he needs to give the players more freedom in the attack.
Our next 2 windows need to be A-Team players only. They need as many games together as possible if we're going to continue building the chemistry between our midfield and our new CF. We need to find reliable back-ups/depth at the wide attacking positions, CDM, and LB. Overall we need to use the NL roster (less Senora & Zendejas) and only rotate bring a couple fringe guys (2-3) each camp….and those guys shouldn't be from the GC squad.
Transfer window isn't over yet so hard to give it a grade at this point. Yes some of our guys have made intelligent moves that should benefit their continued growth & improvement (Pulisic, Pepi, Jedi, Aaronson, etc…). But we still haven't seen if some of the other important players will make successful moves. Still waiting to see what happens with Balogun, Musah, McKennie, Dest,….and still too early to tell. We need everyone healthy and playing if we're going to have a chance next summer.

  18. The summer was an outstanding success. The A Team dominated the other A Teams. I saw Jamaica and Mexico as the favorites to win the Gold Cup. The US C team making it to penalties of the semifinals was a high quality achievement.

  19. Taking everything account european players season abroad, U20 WC, nations league, gold cup e.t.c i would say this was a overrall meh/mediocre season for USMNT overall

  20. We need to keep in mind that GGG might not have the same amount of discretion or decision making power. The delay could’ve been regarding concessions he was willing to make. Maybe he’s been required to change his roster selection or tactics
