Liverpool have received a surprise offer for their Brazilian midfielder Fabinho for a reported £40 million from Saudi side Al-Ittihad.
Fabinho has been left out of their pre-season tour squad, with the 29-year-old looking likely to leave Jurgen Klopp’s side.
But who makes sense to replace the versatile midfielder, with a particular look at a number 6 who needs to slot into a relatively new look midfield at Anfield? JJ Bull looks at potential successors.

Thoughts on letting Fabinho go for £40 Million:
• We won’t get more than £40 Million for him ever again.
• I don’t know how much it will cost to replace him.
•If we don’t get a good replacement for him, £40 million was not worth letting go of your starting midfield anchor.
I don’t think the Original plan was to let Fab go. But I assume they have something they’re working in the background bc. It would be very stupid to let Fabinho go, without knowing who to replace him with.
Especially bc teams will increase their valuation on their players, knowing we’re desperate.

Goretzka could be a realistic option
I like amrabat. Out of the players we've been linked with so far I'd want him the most. Not sure he's exactly what we need tho. But him being a man utd target might improve our odds of signing him, seeing how much we like to nab players united want in the recent past
What about palhinha
The stats about them winning more without him than with him are really misleading. Fabinho always starts the important and hard games because of his defensive cover and he sometimes doesn’t start when the opponent is weak. That is why the stats are different for when he starts or doesn’t start.
Id be gutted to lose Kamara but equally if they come in with a silly offer for him a year after we got him for free, after he missed half our games anyway last year, it would do wonders for FFP and we've already brought in a player who could take his spot comfortably in Tielemans.
First option would be to keep him but I don't see a situation where Villa lose, they either get loads of money to reinvest or keep a quality player. He's not integral to the side yet though so if he's going to go this might be the best window to sell
What about Ibrahim Sangare
A premier league side needs a 6 and tifo didn't recommend Sangare!

I want Kephrem Thuram but everyone’s favorite line is that he is better at the 8. People act like Hendo wasn’t an 8 that could play the 6 either . Thuram would be my bench option while I would make Sangare from PSV would be my idea starter
Boubacsr kamara or ugarter wouldve been ideal.
What about Leon Goretzka? He brings physicality, is good on the ball and available though a bit pricy.
what about Alvarez?
Liverpool should have tried to grab MacAllister AND Caicedo perhaps? I guess they were priced out at 90m? Would have been the best option imho.
what about TAA? switch TAA to DM, buy a new RB

They should replace him with Ibrahim Sangare
Based on his performances over the last 18 months you could replace him with a plate of chips.
It’s a shame to see Fabinhos form just capitulate.
