I keep saying, Trent as a defender is not bad, in a 1v1 situation when facing the opposing attacker, or running behind and catching up to the attacker and getting the ball off them, he does good, its his defensive awareness that sucks, he never seems to know when the team is forming a defensive unit, or he just gets run at by opposing players without even realizing they are there, its that lack of awareness and vision that he just does not have, the guy spaces out completely 😅😅

Geez… Trent is an attacking footballer & he WANTS to be up the field. Why is that hard to comprehend..? That's where he gets joy now & has always wanted to play. His "defending" is good enough if he's playing his preferred position. Talk about pigeon-holing a player & just running with assumptions of what he is. He has a skillset & was drafted into team by Klopp at RB in order to make the team & yrs on now, he's suffering from the narrative.

Hes not necessarily bad at defending, he looks bad when opposition are overloading the right flank then trent can go as high as hes been doing all these years. Any defender will struggle with that, its just klopp system's "weakness"

Any coach that plays Alexander-Arnold in defense instead of midfield is seriously needs to do better!
On another note, Southgate is not the right manager for the talent that England has. He just isn't!

lets face it – some pundits just arent fit to wear that shirt – 2 of them basically saying trent isnt good enough to be a professional footballer , & not on same beath as them as a footballer.trent does fall asleep defensively sometimes , but given the role he is being asked to play , thats natural.he needed to be netter at recognising when he needed to be better defensively,but ther was enough instances of him being the last covering defender , & being good enough to save the team , that it meant more was beoing put on him than should have been.he has set records that will not be broken at rb position,but a utility role will be where he ends up – literallt because media will bully his managers into doing that

I really think in football it's better to get the most out of each player, for the likes of kimmich, Saka, Robertson, Lewandowski and honestly Trent, in this generation is one of the few who's playmaking style is similar to Beckham

This is nonsense… Alexander-Arnold is top 3 in the league at RB or RWB and is great in the midfield… You can only really mention Reece James and Andy Robertson in the premier league that's as good as TAA

People have watched Cafu, Carlos, Marcelo, Dani Alves and the likes all those years ago and are still behaving like out and out defending is a must at RB and LB. Encourage the young lad to be better at whatever he seems weak at. This is not encouraging. He doesn't need to play in Midfield all throughout in a game.
