Sebastian Coates Nion (Spanish: Sebastián Coates Nion; October 7, 1990, Montevideo) is a Uruguayan footballer of Spanish-Scottish descent, central defender of Sporting and the Uruguayan national team. Since 2009, he was often called up to the location of the main national team of Uruguay, as a basis he made his debut in 2011.
“Liverpool”
In August 2011, there were rumors that Coates might move to English Liverpool. On August 25, Sebastian himself said that he intends to move to this team, having also reported that Luis Suarez, his teammate, helped him make such a choice. And on August 30, Liverpool officially announced that Coates had passed a medical examination, received a work permit and signed a “multi-year contract” with Liverpool. On September 18, 2011, he played his first match (against Tottenham Hotspur) for the first team, replacing an injured Agger. On 21 March 2012 he scored his first goal for Liverpool against Queens Park Rangers in London (side scissor jump).
Sunderland
In the summer of 2015, he moved to the Sunderland Football Club. The transaction amount is 5.5 million pounds.
