On this episode of Instant Replay, David Gass takes you through the most controversial calls in Major League Soccer. It was a wild night in The Bronx, as NYCFC had a goal taken off the board, and VAR award FCC a penalty. Plus, a dangerous tackle in DC, VAR awarding the Galaxy a penalty and Inter Miami given a penalty by grabbing someone’s shorts?!?!

  1. Bruh doesn't know the new rules. Just because a defender attempts to play the ball DOESNT mean it negates offsides anymore. That rule changed this year.

  2. The goal should have stood even though the whistle had blown? You sure about that? Saying the fould was minor and shouldn't have been called is fine but never ever ever (I mean never ever) will a goal stand if the the whistle blows before it goes in the net. I feel like I've just been baited into commenting for the algorythm.

  3. Do you think Limo was making a "deliberate save" rather than a "deliberate play" therefore offside was called? At least worth a discussion for an "expert" making a video under the MLS name.

  4. Gass really needs to leave refereeing to referees. First, in the ATX-MIN disallowed goal, since it was a shot on goal, it is a deliberate SAVE, which does NOT nullify offside. Also, he says that Lima's actions nullify offside, but even if it were not a save, the LotG were clarified to say "‘Deliberate play’ (excluding deliberate handball) is when a player has control of the ball with the possibility of: passing the ball to a team-mate; gaining possession of the ball; or clearing the ball (e.g. by kicking or heading it)" (IFAB, Law Changes 2023/24). None of those apply to Lima!

Second – how can he POSSIBLY say that a goal should have been given if the whistle blew before the ball crossed the goal line????

  5. No commentary on all the yellows given to Seattle? And a clear defensive deflect out of bounds that should have been a corner but was given as a goal kick?

  6. This has got to be the laziest Instant Replay commentary I've seen so far. There's only a few games covered and Gass makes some clear and obvious errors with the claims he makes, as many have already noted. If MLS isn't going to put any effort into making this decent content they should just stop doing it.

  7. That video of Kreilach’s supposed handball is anything but “clear and obvious”. Did they shoot that with a Motorola Razr?

  8. Disagree with you on the Colorado call. Lewis is a little behind the defender and the defender uses his arm to push Lewis down, not his shoulder or body. Once the arm is used, it is a foul and should have been given as a dogso red.

  9. Wow this guy doesn’t have a clue the “deliberate” attempt to play the ball and the “shoulder to shoulder” call are hilarious does this guy know the rules???
