Aaron Mooy, Joe Hart & David Turnbull will all be entering the final year of their Celtic contracts in the summer – but do they have a long term future at the club.
Mooy is the man of the moment, Joe Hart has been huge for Celtic, and Turnbull’s talent is undeniable, so will Ange be looking to offer the trio new deals to extend their stay at Celtic Park?
We cover this one as part of the ‘Big Debate’ on the latest episode of The Celtic Exchange Weekly.
Some mixed opinion from our panel so let us know what you think in the comments below.

Your sounding like once you hit 30yrs plus it’s over . Calm down lads .we’re being run like a big club now remember the league were in its murder . Enjoy what we have at the moment
Champions league were cannon fodder mate .it’s about winning this league taking the money and being battered by the big teams . We can never compete while we’re held back by Scotland .
Jesus wept at these comments. Mooy and Modric in the same sentence? Come off it guys. Not every keeper we have is the next Buffon, just like Mooy isn't the new Modric. We absolutely shouldn't be looking to keep players forever just because we like them or how they play in the SPL, we should be looking to capitalise on them the most we can, IF they play well in the Champ's League. Hart is already 35, we need to find a replacement for him now so we can get them into the squad, on the bench this coming season, ready to take over when Hart retires or gets to slow for europe. Benji Siegrist is not it. Mooy is having a great season off the back of the WC, maybe he'll play well next season, maybe not. IS he a Champ's League level No.10? We'll see. Turnbull is on the bench for a reason, we don't know why, whether that be attitude or ability. Either way the best job he is doing right now is filling a reg slot for the CL. Otherwise his max transfer value is being approached now and it may be best to cash in.
The business model of Celtic hasn't changed under Ange, it won't change under any manager. It is to buy in young, high potential players, keep them for 3-4 seasons and sell for a profit. This is the only way we'll have enough money to improve ourselves in Europe.
You guys should watch your captain, yes he runs all day but not in the same league as Mooy.
He’s 32 his style of play will let him play into his mid 30s.
It’s the Scottish Premiership not the EPL.
Show some respect
As Ange has repeatedly said a player's age is not a major factor. With regards to Mooy's supposed lack of speed I wonder how long it takes for you Scottish fans to realise that the ball will always be faster than the legs, so to speak. Aaron is technically highly competent. He reads the game impeccably, knows when to speed the game up or slowing it down. His ability to make space for fellow players and to find "that "killer" pass is another major plus. Finally, he is a great team player and he does his talking on the park.
Turnbull is ah tremendous player
Mooy played a brilliant pass to kyogo for the first goal which set the opportunity up.
Mooy in his early days played alongside Shinji Ono, who was outstanding off the ball and spectacular on the ball, when he let a ball run everything on the field changed, he was that good. Mooy has shown that he was a good student.
Top job. Video was shorter than normal. Was looking forward to the James sub-category.
There is a need for Scottish football to finally get to the bottom of:
Did Peter Lawwell and/or Mark Lawwell get commissions like Jackie McNamara for loans & transfers involving Man City?
Were any of the Man City loan players: Daniel Arzani, Patrick Roberts (several seasons 2016 -2018), Jason Denayer (2014-2015) and John Guidetti getting Man City shadow payments off the books while they played for Celtic? Were they undeclared to the SFA as side deals?
Similarly with transfers from Man City to Celtic like Dedryk Boyata, Olivier Ntcham and Jeremie Frimpong.
Did Ange Postecoglou get a shadow contract like Roberto Mancini for ‘services’ to another CFG subsidiary?
Great sessions gents. Just on the importance of Hart, please watch what these gents had to say… https://youtu.be/3CoenPUusrE?t=1366
Ah bet Miff's dad loved squeezing his cheeks.
Would like to see all 3 of those players at the club for at least another season
As an Aussie, I rekon Ange did a bit of a favour to Australia bringing Mooy in. Having said that, Ange wouldn't of done it unless he knew he was going to get paid back. Mooy is back to his EPL form now and he's crushing it and paying Ange back in spades… to think Mooy was considering retirement.
We would be mad to let Turnbull go
From a business and financial view point Turnbull is the priority to tie down this won't be lost on the board!!
Ffs. He's our number 1 next season. Yous want to get shot of a class goalkeeper.. Worst podcast ever
Turnbull was brilliant last season up till he got injured .Everytime he comes. On he scores Great player on his day
Mooy is the season assist record holder in the aleague for a reason. He bossed the midfield and had dynamic attackers around him he gained good chemistry with at Melbourne City… Like he has at Celtic now. Enjoy the last few years of the Aussie Iniesta Gents.🤘
there is a reason why you dont have many followers
i was always told upstairs for football ,downstairs for dancin
so you don`t have to run around make the ball do the work
IM typing this before listening to this podcast and Mooy maybe keep for another season for now ..Turnbull ? on that one ..Hart has to go now end this season for younger and better goalie ..Maybe Hart working as goalie coach at Celtic as guy seems to get on well with others and would bring some experience to younger good goalie .
For me worst Celtic player in door has been James McCarthy and the handing him a 4 yr deal was this Ange or Desmond move as it was deplorable .
You guys don't keep mooy your nuts he's tough mother throw him challenge watch him go
Keep Hart for next year Champions League
Where is the new number one coming from by the way
The whole China thing gets over played with Aaron Mooy and it is quite misunderstood. When Mooy was recruited, Chinese clubs were bringing in a lot of marquee singings who were not far off the top of their game and they were getting paid better than some of the best players in the EPL or virtually anywhere else. You had guys like Hulk, Tevez, Oscar and a bunch of others going over for the big bucks. Aaron Mooy was specifically an even more desirable singing for Chinese clubs than many of these types of players because he is from a nation within the Asian Confederation and there are limits on the number of non-Asian players in that league, but not players from nations such as Australia. It was not long after Australia won the Asian Cup and he was seen as the best player in Asia. So Aaron Mooy was regarded as a marquee signing with this free bonus attached, and he was paid accordingly. The motivation for going to China might not make a pile of sense to many people but I think he was wanting to make sure his family were well and truly provided for by the time he retired and the Chinese chased him hard. Of all the players in the Celtic squad, Aaron Mooy in my opinion is the least out of place in the Champions League when it comes to talent and ability. Joe Hart and Jota are probably next in line, along with the Japanese boys. I know Celtic fans demand high standards, but this team is absolutely dominating the SPL and you've got supporters still sitting around talking about some of the best first team players they've seen in a long time as though they're disposable or have little to offer in the very near future. You would think most would be grateful for all the achievements but also the entertainment value of this side. I would argue that there are some players in their mid-20's in this team that aren't up to the same standard and never will be, even if they're going to hang around for a while longer. They're the ones that will need replacing if Celtic wants to go deep in European competition. I thought just about everyone in Scotland had agreed that the story about Mooy having no pace had just about been dispelled with all his recent performances. The guy is picking up the ball all over the park and wins the ball quite frequently. Let the guy play until he actually starts to show his age and the club has better options – don't just cut the guy arbitrarily. There seems to be an obsession with players having pace over skill – Usain Bolt grew up playing football and put a lot of effort into his dream of playing the game professionally but even as the fastest man on Earth, he was rejected by the Central Coast Marriners in Australia when on trial after retiring at his peak from running. Like the fact that just about everyone in Scotland was wrong about Ange and Mooy, I actually believe people will start to regret the neagtive stance they took on retaining Mooy one way or another because if he is either allowed to play on for another couple of years he'll most likely prove the doubters wrong, or if he's let go prematurely, the team will inevitably lose creative spark, games will be less entertaining and lower scoring, and Celtic may even go backwards and start losing games to the likes of Rangers etc. again.
