In 1999 Derrick Thomas was the best defensive NFL football player. He was driving to the KC airport when his car went off and killed two passengers including himself. One passenger who was wearing the seatbelt walked away while two who did not wear their seatbelts were thrown out and died. I was in Kansas City at the time and it was the biggest news for many weeks following the accident.
