Aston Villa are in advanced talks with Villarreal with regards to signing centre-back Pau Torres.

Unai Emery is going back to his former side to take the 26-year-old to the Premier League in a deal that will cost Villa around £45m.

Torres has a release clause of €70m (£60.4m) but it’s understood Villa have negotiated terms to suit them paying over a longer period of time so their initial payment falls below the release figure.

  1. The teams just outside the big 4/6 are really doing some solid business. Really rooting for team like villa, Brighton, Newcastle, Brentford.

  2. When Emery realizes English players are overrated average players so bringing in his own native spanish Techniques 😂😂

  3. That would be a good signing for villa also they would need to sign some good young players as they will be fighting for that conference league trophy next season.

  4. Im a newcastle fan who lives in brum and ik wheve almost had a sort of weird little "rivalry" but im actually quite happy seeing villa doing bits alongside us. Wasnt too long ago we were borh in the championship together and now we are finally breaking up the "big 6" brighton are also in there with a shout too.

  5. "Pau Torres certainly would go into the mix there to add competition for places"

I don't understand this line at all. He starts for Spain and he's played under Emery before, but his presence would just be making Konsa and Mings have to work harder in training?

Unless something goes seriously wrong he will start all of the important games for Villa.

  6. Villa building on a decent last season – Tielemans and now Pau Torres, both top international players at the right age….! Gunna be challenging….

  7. Just love that coach! He has won European trophies, Arsenal didn’t give him time, what he has done Aston villa, with time maybe he can have success!!!

  8. Well done ….highly rated from Laliga.
Many times linked with Barca and sometimes just couldn't achieve the transfer amount but clearly he soughted by high level teams

  9. As a 🇫🇮 Finn (Liverpool fan) who speaks 🇪🇦 Spanish fluently, I can't help correcting that the part "Villa" of Villarreal isn't pronounced the same way as that of Aston Villa. It's "biyarreal" or something like that in English, not a double LL. 😉

  10. Going to be one heck of a season, I don't think the likes of City will have all there own way, utd, Arsenal, Newcastle, Villa and Brighton all spending big not to mention Liverpool and Chelsea! Wow

  11. Tilemans and Torres and it’s not even July! So blessed we have unai as a manager the turn around is out of this world
