Zakhele Lepasa, an Orlando Pirates striker, has moved to SuperSport United on loan, which is a big surprise. Here’s what you need to know.
The 25-year-old Bafana striker Lepasa isn’t as popular at Pirates as he used to be. He will finish the season at SuperSport United, where Gavin Hunt will be his coach.
This season, Lepasa has played 10 times in the DStv Premiership and has scored once. But in the past few weeks, he has lost favor.
The two teams agreed that Zakhele Lepasa will play for Matsatsantsa on loan until the end of the season.
Lepasa hasn’t played much for the Pirates in recent months, and Souaibou Marou’s arrival would be bad for him.

JALI WANTS MORE FROM SUNDOWNS, KAIZER CHIEFS ARE CIRCLING
Mamelodi Sundowns wants to offer Jali a new contract, but they won’t meet the player’s camp’s alleged financial demands. After winning a lot of individual player awards last season, Jali’s people think he deserves a big new deal. He is also the current MTN8 Last Man Standing, the DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season, and the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.
“They have offered Jali a little more than he is getting now, but that is not enough. The length of the contract they are giving is also a problem. “Jali will be 33 in April, which is a factor in and of itself,” said a source at Choorklop.
“We know that giving a 32-year-old a long-term contract is not good for business. But Jali isn’t the kind of player you give one-year contracts with options to extend. You need to promise him something.”
The 32-year-old midfielder schemer used to play for Orlando Pirates. He joined the Brazilians in 2018. After having trouble at first, he was a key part of their success in the early 2020s. But he has only started eight games in the DStv Premiership this season.
Rualni Mokwena, the head coach, says he can’t make decisions about Jali’s future.
“I’ve always felt the same way about AJ. The problem is with management, but I think it’s clear what his role is and how important he is to the group,” Mokwena said.
