Press conference with England manager Gareth Southgate following their 7-0 win over North Macedonia at Old Trafford in the Euro 2024 qualifier.
He talks about the dedication Bukayo Saka showed by playing with an injury and he got his reward with his hattrick, the level he thinks Saka is at, the quality of the England forward line, the performance of Jordan Henderson, how far the team have come since poor results in the Nations League last summer – saying they’e gone to a new level but must new maintain that standard, says they are now playing like they expect to win games after many of the players have won silverware, talks about the level of experience in the squad despite them being a relatively young side, reflects on the season as a whole which saw a World Cup (amongst nine competitions in total) in the middle of it – going on to suggest the international and domestic calendar needs to be changed and what he thought of the yellow cards given to Rice and Phillips.

Please please please may this England team play with no fear like that at all times
Big love to all England fans and this team 🤗 Saka was outstanding tonight and usually is! But he has experienced horrendous racism which we all have to call out and stand against – online, with friends/family anywhere. Call it out 🙏🏽 England have got this 👏🏾👏🏾
Since the euros Saka has been England’s best player.
Still place England at 6th in Europe and this does not change that. 1. France 2. Spain 3. Croatia 4. Portugal 5. Italy 6. England. That is the issue. How do you beat the 5 ahead of you to actually win something. England are the totenham of the world stage.
Looked so much with saka and rashford. Pace on both wings running in behind kane the false 9. Don’t know why foden looks like a different player for England. Imagine this team with Bellingham in midfield for henderson
Here we go again. Beat up a country that’s sounds like a snack
I love Saka and I don’t want to take away from his performance because he was amazing, and his goal was quality! but goals like his shouldn’t be celebrated man! They need to be encouraged! Who remembers the days when players were smashing it in top bins every week? These players are more then capable, but they’re not allowed to anymore! If we celebrate this volley like it was something spectacular then the lads will be less inclined to try it. Hope I make sense? I know it’s all about good passing and securing the goal, but I feel like keepers aren’t even expecting a thunder strike anymore and it’s something we need more of in the big championship games, I feel like players like rashford or saka taking a 30 yard strike in the final is NOT allowed anymore? You know the euros and the World Cup, just waiting for abit of magic and sometimes I feel like that’s all we’re lacking
Love Saka though man, such a quality player such a good guy and such an asset. Fully deserved accolades
Dreadful manager
Amazing. England showing once again that they can definitely beat who they should definitely be beating. Still a team of absolute bluffers.
No question about Trent, because he's just a class midfielder now 😂
lol we’re gonna get a World Cup in the middle of a season again in 2030 or 2034 (🇸🇦), whether we like it or not
Saka has XFactor..❤
Saka is the player Sancho should be
Well done Gareth
In a great position, kudos to you and your staff and players
Just unearth a replacement for Maguire and backups for Kane and Shaw and it’s all on!!!!
bukayo saka is who rashford and sancho wish they could become
I honestly do not understand how some people don't like Southgate as England manager. Class act, very calculated and getting performances. This is the best England have ever been.
Well done England .
It was North Macedonia, Theo wallcott once bagged ahat trick for england at the same stage in hi scareer. They claimed he was the best in the world then aswell. Malta and north macedonia are no yard stick to measure yourself by. England always beat the teams they are supposed to but always lose against the teams they are expècted to lose to aswel.
Quick poll. How many of you would want him managing the team you support
