It weakens West Hams position. Whether the City interest is real or not, i genuinely believe Rice wants the Arsenal move….West Ham cant risk keeping Rice, who they've promised a move.
When Arsenal come back to the table in a couple of weeks with a take it or leave it, they'll bite.
You have to understand that there is a reason why United isn't going in for RICE, he's NOT good enough!

Rice is a average player, he not worth £100 million, hope city get him. This is harry maguire all over again.
Don't understand the confusion, must have been stated a 100 times by Moyes and West Ham what the value of Rice was so it's never been a secret, also from reputable sources it's been reported what West Ham would accept as structured payments and pretty sure it didn't ever mention payment over 6 years and playing football on the moon as an add on.

No one can compete with City money. Arsenal were just being sensible with negotiations. If we just throw whatever money clubs want – we start getting ripped off by everyone – then players like Anthony at Utd get quoted 75m for everyone. We are not super rich club. Too easy for people on the outside to say ‘ yeah just throw 130m get it done’ – then the club goes all in and loses everything and goes bankrupt. As someone who wants the best for Pep's City, I hope that they never sign Rice, he's just an overrated Kalvin Phillips. Barella, Tonali are all clear of Rice. City are better off going for a raw talent in South America.

Arsenal went in too low, that was the problem. Start at £80m plus a player and work it up from there. West Ham have already said their price, that first offer was always going to be laughed out the room. You are getting a 24 year old, English player who is PL proven, International proven, a probably future England captain, in a pivotal role in the team. If you are willing to throw £75m at an unproven random from Portugal then you can pay £100m for Rice. Pay the money or go home.

Got zero worrys as an arsenal fan , his price is inflated and if hes taken id just feel like we saving money we would be getting ripped off over anyway ! I like Rice & I rate Rice, but over a 100 million pounds for him is plain stupidity. Then again all big signings have gone way beyond sense in their pricing. I just don't see him as a goal scoring or goal creating midfielder. He's steady doesn't loose possession much, I don't see him as a midfielder with a massive passing range either. He's an above average midfielder that works hard. Is that what commands a 100 million pound fee nowadays? If someone is willing to pay it I suppose it is. The world has gone mad.
