  1. This makes no sence. Kovacic is so overrated. Bang average player at best, this would be a depth signing for the Carabao cup and FA cup and relegation team games.

  2. Phillips is a good player . But man city killing him without giving him minutes is money bound media. He was playing for england regularly, after city he became a no one..what injury . He was always available for england..esfn FC $$$

  3. Phillips kept getting injured and then for some reason came back from the WC overweight. That will have been a black mark against him in Pep's eyes. When he has played he has looked miles off. Rodri had a difficult 1st season whilst he adapted to what Pep wanted but he still showed glimpses of what he would become. Clearly Phillips has not impressed in training, Rodri played his 63rd game of the seaason the other day(99% of them being starts), he is exceptional, but there's no way Pep wanted him playing that many games

  4. Weird take on Phillips…..was injured for half a season and is never going to get infront of Rodri who’s arguably been the best in the world in his position this season. Can’t just write him off from any plans we will be playing 50+ games next season, hoping he doesn’t get injured he could be important

  5. I'm surprised of the fee, I thought he was going to be sold on the cheap side, as he wasn't used this last season.

But he will definitely play very good under Pep

  6. Phillips career took a massive L going to city. Anyone with a brain would’ve looked at their squad, saw Rodri who was clearly going to be the number 1 choice for that position and realised he’s going to be a bench player. Yeah he’s got a few medals but his career may not recover after this just look at the likes of Jack Rodwell in the past

  7. Jesus do these guys even pay attention? Greelish, Sterling, Stones, Walker, Marhez ALL took at least 2 seasons to get going. Lazy to write him off.

  8. Phillips is not going anywhere he's already said he wants to stay for another few years. This is 100% a Gundogen replacement.

Also, Phillips was unlucky with an injury at the start of the season when he probably would have played in the carabao cup etc.

  9. Why do people write off Phillips? Kova would be replacing Gundogan and Phillips would be a playing in the DM role should anything happen to Rodri. He hasn't gotten much chances because of being out injured and when he came back fit, Rodri was at his peak. Would any sane manager swap out Rodri for anyone? Needs more time imo, Rodri first 2 seasons at Man City he barely got gametime because Fernandinho was favored. Jack was horrible last season and came good this season.

  10. Perfect signing, but terrible transfer for chelsea. I don't get their strategy – do they wven have one??
