John Stones has had an interesting time with Manchester City, to say the least. Stones has consistently been regarded as a great talent in defence. However, he’s always been regarded as a risk-taking centre-back, both in how he advances the ball through his dribbling, and the passes that he makes.

However, this season, he has taken on a new role in Man City’s midfield, which has helped Pep Guardiola address City’s issues with balance. With Stones as a midfielder in a 3-2-4-1 formation, Manchester City are capable of their free-flowing attack – of which Stones joins – as well as retaining their defensive assuredness that has been a hallmark of their success over the past few seasons.

  1. Stones is amazing for club and country. Now he's cut out those mistakes he used to make that always seemed to get punished, he's without any shadow of a doubt one of the best and most complete defenders in Europe.

  2. ⚠️ DANGER⚠️
    1) Mo Salah is about to be sold to saudi club, alHillal. 😱
    2) Amrabat is about to be sold to saudi club, alNasser.
    3) Moreno is about to coach saudi club, alAhli. 😮‍💨

  3. In 2019 , pep said that he wants Jon stones to go on loan to Everton to improve his form , stones couldn't get in the team , but stones insisted that he will fight for his place and stayed , what sat stones back was kompany leaving city , stones was alone in that he wasn't the bully type defender like , he learned and adapted and then won the premier league three times in a row after that , some players are mentally tough like that unlike maguire

  4. John Stones is a fucking BEAST. I’ve been telling people for years now that he’s one of the best CBs in the world. People don’t give him the credit because of the attacking prowess of the team. But he’s hugely important. And now he’s playing in midfield and bossing

  5. If City win the Treble, Stones should genuinely be the player of the year for city. He's the reason the system works as well as it does, and he's the reason Haaland and the four attackers can do what they do.

  6. I'm curious to see whether Stones' success in the midfield will translate to the England National Team. Him and Declan Rice could strike a killer partnership.

  7. In the first half of the 17/18 season he was genuinely amazing. That was when he started showing the talent we knew he had. Then he got injured and it completely ruined his momentum and he didn't fully recover back until into of the 20/21 season. He's been consistently amazing since, legit never puts a foot wrong for City or England. My favourite player right now for sure

  8. That turn he did against United at the edge of the box was one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen. He’s one of the best ball playing CBs I’ve ever seen in my life.

  9. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager improve players as much as Pep has. And he know it isn’t just him, he knows exactly what staff he wants to bring to the team.

  10. As a city fan I’m nervous, tbh I think inter is one of the best cup teams/one off games for the past couple of seasons. It’s going to be a really tough game for City as favorites.

  11. Stones was doomed at City before the arrival of Ruben Dias. Stones not only managed to save his City career but also reach a whole new level and the consistency to his game.
