i feel like in the long term it was a good signing but short term bad. Any midfielder coming in worth 40-50m would’ve helped us more this season but in 3 years time that midfielder might be average whilst gakpo could be world class

Liverpool only got him so United wouldn’t
Probably got him as a firminho replacement before his value skyrocketed or another team swooped him
I get why we signed him. Gakpo is an extremely good player with a lot of potential but we still needed midfielders as well.
