This has got a very familiar feel to it. When our "real" transfer attempts are all going wrong, then put in silly bids that we know wont be accepted – then put on a long face and say " well, we tried". Remember Kalvin Philips and Raphinha in January?
Agree with everything you said, Geo. I do think the club had a plan, but CB injury crisis has thrown a wrench in the works. I also think missing out on Lingard has really thrown off their plans. I mean, he was going into the starting 11 without a big outlay of money. And since he turned us down, we haven't been linked to anyone similar until Depay. I guess Gallagher and Paquetta would fill that need as well. I think it will be hard for them to find a better options than Fornals/Lanzini/Benrahma without putting up a large sum of money that they may have been allocated for someone to challenge Soucek/replace Rice next season.

The transfer window has become comical for non west ham supporters. Tragic as always for us west ham fans. It's a farce. The optimists would say at the start of the window it's good we will have several signings. The supporters that have seen it all before would say it will get to the end of the transfer window and Moyes will be saying it's a tough window. Players don't want to come here. No wonder sullivan has to finally get involved. He has no confidence on Moyes and who can blame him. It's a absolute farce. Time for Moyes to go.
