      Buvey on The Club podcast with McKola, saying John Stones is the best CB in the league is laughable. For me the best CBs in the league have been Saliba, Martinez and Botman. The 3 of them have been neck and neck.

      Said it many times recently especially on insta. Him and saliba easily easily beat cb’s this season. I understand silva been good but ultimately cheslea are shocking. I think dunk and akanji go under the radar. And I think vvd just hasn’t been same since the acl. Licha been immense and makes me cheer for every tackle and battle won. Mans got the vidic mindset and the rio class. Best cb in world atm. There I said it 🤷‍♂️😂🐐

      Steve Nicholl and crew on ESPN during the world cup, said that he could hardly be that good if Otamendi is keeping him out of the team. They also ridiculed his jumping by suggesting he was only looking as if he was doing something when he jumped but not indeed winning the ball.

      Credits to Martinez, one of the best defenders but he gets away with a lot of fouls, if he were in any other team would have easily got red card. Lot of incidents overlooked

      In the long term, he will have to be moved to LB to play that inverted role in order to accommodate a proper 6'2/6'3 CB. Absolutely love him, but there's no chance we dominate world football w varane-martinez as a partnership in addition to him being a 5'9 CB.

      Another thing he does most people dont know (not that I blame them since he said it to Dutch magazine Voetbal International); is that he actually studies his opponents prior to & during games. Which is one of the reasons why I think he is so good in anticipating where the ball goes when an oponenent has the ball, while most players dont really know who they are facing in their next game. As a player and person the man is fantastic and does understands supporters, so Im not surprised he has become a supporter favorite in such a short time. Of all the players we lost this summer, he was the one we truly we upset about; the man is just special. Normally wingers, 10's and if we have an "tyical Ajax striker" is what draws us to football; but he is a defender that draws people in and thats quite rare if you ask me.

      The real comparison with him is Ayala and Passarella, he might be less of a freak of an athlete Passarella was (and of course Passarella had the strike of a Nelinho and goalscoring ability of a forward), but he shares the size, skills way above the ones required for the role, great jump, intelligence, attitude and witty mean under the skin approach when needed. he has a everything to a be a generational defender.

      5:58 can we stop brining this up? It's a nothing point. Licha's falling/slipping as the ball is coming in, he couldn't get there even if he wanted to. In addition, Mee was fortunate that he met the ball mid-fall.

      He is what one could call ‘a proper united player’. Guy does everything well. Best defender consistency wise and ability wise that united have had since vidic. Vidic could get done for pace though i remember fernando torres always burned him. Licha looks better imo, looks a complete player who loves defending.

      Next season when Maguire is a distant memory Martinez will be Captain. OMG, if we had failed to get this guy I would have been livid for the rest of my life. I try not to listen to these prats – mainly because their accents piss me off – but what you do about it he does as a matter or course. When people are saying we simply cannot win the League Cup, FA Cup, Europa League AND finish in the top 4, try telling that to Martinez. What a player and we have struck Gold!!!

      Let's be honest Agbonlihor ( if that's how you spell his name not sure as he's a nobody) talks about as much knowledge about football as Southampton know about winning. He was a very average player who wasn't good enough to lace lisandro Martinez 's boots.

      It was clear very quickly that Licha is not the kind of person you write off that early the way Carragher did. That’s probably the worst thing to say about a warrior like him.
