Rice and Caicedo makes perfect sense because of Zinchenko.
It would mean the left 8 sits alongside the 6, rather than venture forward plus covers Lb space. This is exactly what Xhaka was tasked with and failed, so we had to adapt

I’m absolutely 💯 blown away by this analogy! I’ve repeatedly been saying the same thing, that the two guys Caicedo and Rice don’t upgrade the Xhaka role, and that’s exactly what Arsenal need to close the gap on City.

I think Caicedo could really grow into Xhaka’s role, with Rice being a slightly more progressive 6.
Arsenal need a John stones type defender to slide into the DM role. Also need tactically sound CMs with great ball possession and passing ability.

You are missing a big attribute of Rice, his pshysical fitness and resilience means he's going to be available almost the entire, if not all, of the season. Partey struggles with injuries and is the wrong side of 30.

Zinchenko needs to play midfield. I don't think his defending side is capable. Tierney might leave, and even if he doesn't, get a better-fit LB! RB as backup for Tomiyasu, and maybe let White play more CB. Obviously, as the video mentions, CDM is a must. As for an Odegaard back-up, idk. Trossard, Balogun, Nketiah are decent options. Smith-Rowe might get more game time next season too.
Let's keep in mind Arsenal spent a lot recently, on future players that might need to play some minutes now though. Players coming back from loan might surprise like Saliba did.
