After making two appearances in friendlies for the United States in 2020, Valencia’s Yunus Musah has decided to commit his international future to the USMNT over England, Italy and Ghana. ESPN gets reaction from former U.S. international Taylor Twellman, as well as Gab Marcotti and Julien Laurens, the hosts of The Gab and Juls Show on ESPN FC. The three share their thoughts on what the 18-year-old’s decision means for the future of the USMNT, which will seek a return to the FIFA World Cup in 2022 after missing out in 2018.

  1. Pathetic. Literally never lived there has no connection. That's like me saying I want to play for Argentina because I once holidayd there.

  2. Ghana has another player, if you at players who qualify to play for Ghana, they would be one of the strongest teams in the world if people eligible played for Ghana.

  3. Ghana and Italy didn't even recruit him, it was between England and USA. England wasn't particularly grieved at this loss but it's a great pickup for the US. I'm not saying he's not good enough. Ghana had no chance or not much of a connection to him other than heredity so they didn't even do much. Italy and England are stacked with equal or better talents so the USA was the natural choice.
I'm happy for him, I'm happy for the USMNT!

  4. He's a talented player but come on…saying England "desperately wanted" him is a big stretch. Sure, they would have liked him to hold on making his decision but the reality is that given his age, experience, and the talent in front of him in that position, England simply could not promise him call-ups and consistent minutes with the senior team right now. The US could. That's it. If England "desperately wanted him" they would have called him up for this upcoming break but right now he's not at the level they need. Good for the US, but let's relax a little.

  5. I have been watching him carefully in Valencia's team, I must to admit he's a very good young man on the field of play so let's hope he develops into something special for US team 👌👌👌👌

  6. The USMNT has such great potential, definitely the most talented team in CONCACAF, can’t wait to see what they can do on the pitch

  7. I saw him first time and first game against Wales. I was wowed by his composer, techniques, and game IQ. I learned then he could choose multiple teams. Now he is with U.S. I am so excited about what to come with USMNT. What a great news for US Soccer.

  8. I think if Gareth Southgate desperately wanted him then he'd have called him up and this wouldn't be an issue. The truth is that Musah wouldn't even get into the England U21s on merit right now.

  9. Alexi Lalas Commentary Incoming: “If a WCQ was tomorrow then Bradley would start over McKennie Adams and Musah” 😂😂😂😂

  10. He had no chance to play for England. He would either be on the Bench or he wouldn't get call up. USA is the best choice for him.

  11. Alphonso Davies bigger talent then all of these americans, yes Dest, Mckennie, Sargent, and Reyna are great talents but no where near Davies and David (Lille). Gio Reyna , David and Davies from North Americas will become superstars. USA and Canada have some really talented players,..oh and Weston Mckennie who learns from the best in Pirlo

  12. With this group all playing in Europe, they could grow into something great! Now it is the coaching staffs responsibility to get the most out of them! Hopefully this staff can do that. It would be great to see! I like all of these players and they all play a clean fundamental game. Playing time with their club teams will be the key!

  13. Of course all them young niggas want to play for USA Bc they gon get playing time once they older they gon play for they origin country

  14. He should've sided with his roots and chosen Ghana. Unfortunately, African football misses out on too many talents.

  15. Does England want everyone to play for them all the Nigerians born in England they have given them all call up which I know most of them won't even be played in euro or world cup England should relax

  16. Imagine how the English media would feel if Jamal Musiala and Yunus Musah become world class for Germany and the USA respective.

  17. My question is why can’t the USMNT build a squad with kids who play club ball in the United States , why go fo kids that have a choice in multiple countries .. plenty of talent with us born players .. just look for them ..
