  1. Sam, irrespective of other issues, Gregg is just whiffing on Scally. As Herc says, Scally > every FB other than ARob and Dest.

  2. Disagree about this next window. The team from the last window are no longer quarantined so they are just as susceptible for Covid as anyone else coming into this next camp. If you don't bring Pefok in the next window and you don't qualify for lack of scoring goals that needs to SLAM down on GGG!

  3. My 2 deep for the midfield and wings would be LW – Pulisic/Konrad RW – Weah/Aaronson Attacking 8 – Reyna/LDT Defending 8 – McKinney/Musah 6 – Adams/Sands. I think it would be difficult to find a better 2 deep for these spots using the players in our pool.

  4. Do international managers have enough time with their groups to instill a system like Salzburg? They seem to play high press high risk style game WHICH I LOVE but are national teams together long enough for this? Bielsas Chile was I guess? I think the team has to be built around McKennie and Pulisic

  5. Klinnsman didn't bring just Altidore to play striker in the 2014 WC. He also brought Johansson, who was in ripping form. Johansson famously tore an ankle ligament after the rosters were final. He'd have brought Donovan, but Donovan was ten pounds over playing weight before he was cut, and wasn't even getting goals and assists in the MLS at the time. That's not the way to show a player-turned-coach like JK- who came up in one of the notable club and country machine systems of all time- that you care. Also. Dempsey had good time in the top line previously in his career. It's not a position that requires much adjustment, especially if your gifts are in the air and on volleys. Pretty much any player who can be good as a wing can be good as the high striker in the same match and switching back and forth in a season.

Also, a 4-4-2 diamond isn't "narrow" with raiding fullbacks who are credible in the midfield. All good teams with tactical flexibility and a player on each line who can interchange eventually become 3-5-2 for long stretches.
