With off field events, I'm in two minds whether or not it would be a good thing for Everton to go down next weekend. Relegation, massively reduces the purchase price for the club and takes some of the heat off the whole FFP thing. New ownership, a reset and a season to rebuild in time for promotion and the opening of the new stadium in 2025 are all the things that would be expected if they go down next Sunday. Whereas staying up means a summer of scraping around looking for free transfers as the FA will almost certainly not allow so much as a penny to be spent trying to improve the squad. Increasing pressure on the FA from a growing number of clubs to impose a points deduction, The cost of selling the club remaining high and a much more clear cut and dried relegation happening in May 24 anyway.
