The transfer window hasn’t even opened, but already one of the sagas of the summer looks concluded; the future of Jude Bellingham.
Amid an unlikely Bundesliga title charge with Borussia Dortmund, it’s been reported that the English sensation is on the brink of a blockbuster move to Real Madrid, for a fee that could soar over €120m once negotiations are concluded.
The capture of Bellingham would be a major win for Los Blancos given he is also wanted by Manchester City. If he joins, the 19-year-old will join Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde as part of a new-look midfield, destined to replace the Modric and Kroos collaboration that has dominated European football for so long.
It is not only the midfield where Los Merengues have future proofed. The squad is brimming with elite young talent, ensuring the clubs insatiable appetite for silverware will rumble on for another decade at least.
But what’s interesting about the new Real Madrid is the lack of superstar additions joining in their prime that has defined their success for so long. Instead, the Spanish giants have made a deliberate shift towards youth to build the side going forward. The question is, why? In this Football Daily Explained, we are digging into Los Blancos’ new recruitment strategy, to see how they secretly became the smartest club in Europe.

6:11 Bale was a successful
Its not that their transfer strategy is unique, buying young top talents is what many clubs do, but what actually makes Real Madrid so great and get the best talent is the simple fact that every player in the world, wether its a 16 year old in the academy or an established player, everyone wants to play for Real Madrid, they have it seeded in everyones minds that their dream is to play for them.
So its that simple, when you have everyone in the world new and old wanting to play for you, you essentially have the world as your factory and you can pick and choose who you want, in this case they’re choosing young talent that has the prospects of becoming world class, good scouting to find those players is all you need, but the real impact is that everyone dream to play their, it makes it simple to bring players in
just a shame, that they are 13 points behind barça in laliga and not even in second. even in madrid they are number 2 behind atletico. but at least they are doing really well in the champions league (as usual). the vinicius buy was incredible tho
End day mby no get the Real chance again hell get a fmvanecwaexecery English vmckub
They learn from Liverpool alot
Real Madrid literally considers Bale as a club legend, how was he a failure?
Their diversity is why they are so great. Barca’s Spanish bias is why they will never be bigger than Real Madrid.
I find it doubtful it was the “biggest negotiation in Brazil history” regarding Neymar Jr. and Ronaldinho being so dramatic.
Endrick was open and shut
yet they still can't win the laliga against a Barca side that is $1b in debt lol. why are players so obsessed with going to Madrid
Neo Galacticos
Bale was not a failure. But coming from a Sport journalist i am not surprised.
At least Lukuka still wanted to play and go on loan. Hazard (just like Bale was) is content doing nothing and being paid millions
they are very lucky their established players have been so good at such an old age. that's why they can afford to make one massive signing per season
smartest because La Liga only lets them spend
They have learned you cant compete with state clubs in terms of transfer fees and wages. You will need to pay a 25 yr old toni kroos in his pime more than 130 mil in 2023 whle they paid only 1/3rd of that on 2014. So its better to get the best young players than the best players in the world. You can get more than 10 yrs with this new young crop of okayers and you wont have to reinvest in that area for a long time if they develop according to their potential. They did it once before they adopted this startegy recently, they signed casemiro when nobody knew who he was when he was young and then bedded him in and squeezed 10 or 11 yrs from him and finally let him go wjen they decided to move. I think its gonna be similar for all these young players including Bellingham. They won't be leaving madrid for the next 10 or 12 yrs unless they flop terribly or only when madrid decides to sell them.
how was bale a poor investment?
Madrid has 500 mill plus to spend in singings
The only possible regret is …
If Jude really goes to Madrid, what is he going to get there?
In Spain, the only club that 99% becomes the ultimate candidate & finally the champion is either Real or Barca.
So predictable, no challenge at all in that boring league.
What's the point if Jude to be in a club that is already strong? No challenge at all.
And Madrid, the club just have NONE Spanish players but an old dude & a backup in Carvajal & Ceballos.
What's the great of that? 🤣
There’s been a lack of European football since EFD has died and no podcasts on FD Podcasts for almost a year now! FD is becoming like Copa90- outdated and no longer relevant in a modern era of sport journalism. It’s just sad seeing this channel die in front of our eyes
Good content. Poor sing-song way of pronouncing. It's so unnatural and irritating. You speak to us as we're dumb. Quit it.
Gareth Bale was not a waste people need to stop saying that.
I think signing Bellingham will be a mistake he’s not worth the price tag
Dortmund are the smartest 🤣
Ajax too
i'll make it easy for everyone…..if you can afford to spend over 1 billion dollars you have a chance to win … It's like being rich enough to own a ferrari , racing a bunch of teams who drive mini-vans and when you win wanting credit for your driving skills … RM is a great team no doubt but its all about $$$
I'm korean real fan 03/04 ~ raul captain
22/23 benzema captain ing~
Real is king of soccer team
UCL 14
LALIGA 35
GOD DAMM!
Bale didn’t play munch at the end of the season but he definitely wasn’t a bust he’s the most decorated English player
Madrid's best strategy is they keep winning stuff.
While teams like liverpool can be defined by magical moments like Istanbul, kids who were watching at that time might become fan of the liverpool.
But by winning every year, the chance that the kid that will become the next football superstar is watching, and want to play for madrid someday, is bigger.
I remember when united where spoken about in these conversations
Bale was not a failure at all he more than repaid his costs and fees by DIRECTLY winning them 2 champions leagues by scoring winning goals that decided those two finals. Ungrateful club. Against Athletico and Liverpool finals.
It’s easy to be that smart when you’re an old money club that still competes with the new money clubs
Real Madrid became the smartest club in Europe by paying refs. That is all there is to it.
kroos for 25 mil has to be one of the best signings in history
Real Madrid are simply a proper run football club they invest really well in getting the best young players in the world and run their club very well. Chelsea need to learn a thing or 2 on this and with how Real Madrid run their club, PSG need note taking on this and learn that making actual footballing decisions will contribute to having long term success in the champions league.
It's not really being the smartest club though. They've basically had world class players in ever position for the last decade, making it easy for them to buy exciting young talent and develop them and have them learn from a Kroos/Modric/Benzema/Marcelo, etc.. Now you see these players getting minutes and being successful because they've learnt from the best. It didnt work out for players like Kovacic because the decline of Kroos and Modric didn't occur as expected, they've been able to stay at their peak a lot longer than most players from their generation. Also helps that they play in a weaker league, therefore they can have players like Mariano, Cebballos, Nacho, etc get enough game time in the league so they don't feel like they need to leave. That means they don't need to waste money on "squad" players, therefore they can then make big moves for Jude/ Tchouameni/ Militao/ Rodrygo and potentially Mbappe. It's not a strategy because no one else can replicate it
Bale scored a bicycle kick after coming off the bench to win them the Champions League a long with many other moments. I wouldn’t call him a failure.
Kendrick is next in line, a BALLER 😊
im not getting fooled. the reason why they have been so succesful is because of modric and kroos and the minute they leave, real madrid will struggle in europe again. remember this comment.
I mean they got Camavinga for only 40 M while City bought Grealish for 100 M and even worse that Chelsea bought Enzo for 125 M 😂😂😂😂. This is definitely a shrewd recruiting strategy, when the rest of the world is building their own version of Galacticos which ended up with a bloated squad, Madrid has literally abandoned them. I can say even their veterans are still performing so well Carvajal, Vasquez and Nacho are still performing like they are in their 20s now that’s a true miracle works.
Vini – 43
Rodrgyo – 34
Valverde – 4
Camavinga – 31
Total 112 millions
And Bellingham Just himself = 113 m😮
I think that how happy players are at madrid is key. All these youngsters love the club, they learn it from the veterans: Modric, Kroos, Benzema, Casemiro, Marcelo, etc. Many of them could perhaps make more money in PSG or the premier league, but there's nowehere they will be as happy as in Madrid. In other clubs you face ego duels between players, bad relationship with the manager, toxic fans, etc.
Smartest? 😂😂😂. More like stealing all the best players for the last 50 years. Mafia club
As a Liverpool fan, im pretty disappointed we werent/cant/not willing to pay the money for Bellingham – he would have transformed our midfield, however i understand why we didn't go ahead due to rebuilding the whole midfield. Having said that, i AM happy he went to RM instead. Best wishes 😀
BALE IS NOT A BAD SIGNING!!
Yep, Jude is a proper player to relay the torch from Luka modric. With Modric extent his stay for another season, is also a great move for the transition with Jude
2:25 – I think "SUMMER 2018/19" is a bit confusing. The summer in question is 2018.
Makes me proud of Madrid ❤🏆🎉
Nothing new what Real Madrid is doing, is it? 😬 Get promising players when they are young and affordable, and develop those into superstars so you can win prices with them and/or sell them for big profits. Part of the business model of the likes of Benfica and Ajax for decades already.
How was Bale a waste of money!?
