Acting Tottenham head coach Ryan Mason has revealed goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will miss the remainder of the season due to injury.

The club captain went off at half-time in the 6-1 defeat at Newcastle with a thigh injury after he conceded five goals in the opening 21 minutes.

But the 36-year-old will now miss Spurs’ remaining four games after Fraser Forster started in last weekend’s 4-3 defeat at Liverpool.

Mason said ahead of Saturday’s home game against Crystal Palace: “Hugo is out for the season. We had the results back. Obviously disappointing but we feared that initially so he won’t play again for us this season.”
