Daley Blind was superb in Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Leicester City and here’s why I think Blind is our new unsung hero at the club.

  1. Blind's intelligence is at a superior level to most players in the league, we have to find a way to fit him into the side whether at CB, CDM or LB. He is the long-term successor to Michael Carrick

  2. Blind really controls the defence …. Smalling and Bailey are beast, robust and tough tacklers in the physical sense! But Blind provides the intelligence, the organisation .. he makes preemptive moves to stifle attacks and intelligent marshalling!

The only problem is that he is best at either left back or central defence – which are unfortunately real important to the English identity (Shaw and Smalling) of the club. He can replace either of them with ease, but yet its not such an easy call as both Shaw and Smalling are well liked, English and more than competent in their respective roles …. tough tough job to solve this football conundrum for Mourinho!

  3. completely agree with u, he was a standout player throughout the 90 mins on saturday. we now need to ensure that any notions of selling him are quickly forgotten and he deserves to start the games simply based on his performances.

  4. I know I will be criticised for making this point, but why has nobody considered playing 3 at the back – we have 3 top quality players who are best suited to that position. A starting XI could look like this:

    De Gea

    Bailly
    Smalling
    Blind

    Valencia
    Herrera
    Pogba
    Shaw

    Mkhitaryan/Mata

    Ibrahimovic/Rooney
    Rashford/Martial

  5. I agree completely, I disagree to scholes' criticism on him after city game and quite surprised tbh by his comments on him, cause I always rate him highly, almost like he always thrives anywhere he plays

  6. i like your analysis on blind and our set pieces in the past 3 years.i have exactly the same views.but the thing is if we play smalliing we cannot play blind if we play blind we cannot play smalling..and if both play shaw will not play..should we go for pace or intelligence? or should we go for height or intelligence?..
for me intelligence is beyound everything,,with his height and slowness he is one of the best cb in the league..

  7. Hes an amazing player. I loved him since the 2014 world cup and was glad when we signed him. I would put him in 433 with herrera and pogba or at lb where we will have to switch because fixtures such as in october. Shaw cant or maybe play full 90 mins in all those games. I think Blind is at his best when we starts not on the bench for me.

  8. I love Daley Blind. He's such a intelligent, professional player who always gives 100% for the club and I agree with you, Sam, that he doesn't often get the credit he deserves. Hopefully, that changes as the season rolls on.

  9. completely agree. I was saying to my brothers that Blind was epic but never gets the plaudits that he deserves because he's outshone by the "star quality" of Pogba etc. Pogba had a corker too to be fair!

  10. I love how when he mentions that Blind plays left back for the Netherlands, a picture is brought up with him and van Aanholt on the pitch at once 😏

    So…where's van Aanholt playing then?

  11. Blind has such great vision, intelligence and passing ability that I wouldn't be surprised if you put him at number 10 and he surprised everyone by dictating the whole game attacking wise creating many chances.

  12. I cannot agree more

Blind should be our maestro in the midfield. Imagine Herrera and Pogba in front of him.

he was not the only guilty one against the goal of city.

he is definitely one of our best players in the squad.

  13. many speak bad about him is because he did not stop de bruyne and was on the wrong side of the second goal as well but that one bad day man.if eric bailly had won that header on that day the outcome of the game would have been lot different his positoning to trap de bruyne was spot on . and for the fact if you replay the city game he was the chief creator of any chances that united had and why were city struggling in the second half its because our forwards started playing well and they created just one clear chance.and then we never game them chance it was clear evident that you when you play against teams having great qualities you should be attacking and not allow the opposite team to have waves of chances to test the defence even real madrid and barcelona have consided goals . unlucky both our wingers on that day did not play well in the first half and so was our midfield pogba just getting into the epl mode so to sum it up blind was not at fault given his abilites he just did not expect bailley to lose the header.

  14. If Pogba had a start of the season like Blind's having, everyone would say that he's the best midfielder in the world.

I like Pogba, he's very good, but for me, Blind was much better than him against Leicester.

I agree with you in most parts. He kept Mahrez in his pocket while playing left-back, a position he hasn't played for more than 7-8 months minimum.

  15. should have kept lvg… he would have us play much more intelligently eventually. just like he did when he layed down the foundation for success with jajax, bayern and barcelona. total football is the way forward an blind is a very good examole. versatile, intelligent. United is getting backwards now, parking the bus with 100 mil superstars.

  16. i think you should suggest daley bind as permanent replacement for carrick. as then you have solved the midfield problem we will have if carrick is not available and then others like darmian shaw and fosu Mensah will get more chances on left back. and if you look at the individual highlights of his against Borussia Dortmund you can see his influence . i don't know why mourinho never tried him on dm position in epl  is it because he then thinks that fellaini does not get a chance ? but i seriously think he should be tried in carricks position and please do you best to get this message to jose mourinho  through players pundits are fan club with influence old players please propound this suggestion because i think only you realized his importance  and only you will understand better what i am trying to convey. since you took time to make this video. i hope you  will make sure that he is tried in that positon
