I’d rather have Fofana to be honest but the cost of that deal would be double of this lad.. The thing that concerns me is that nobody expected Ounahi to play the level he did at the WC and it’s been seen as the form of his life.. Granted he’s only 22 but is he a WC wonder?? 🧐🤷🏻♂️

I dont rate this guy, one of those typical players who does little for club but over performs for country… Leeds aint a rich club, but I'd say, take this money and get 2 above average CB's.

He is that rare kind of footballer in modern world – a dribbler! The lost art of having a ball laced to his feet. BUT will this be drilled out of him by the system? We seem to see Marsch encouraging players to pass the ball, one touch, two touch, pass. I would like to see another CB and an older midfield general, Strachan kind of wise head.

The problem for me Max, if you have players who lack confidence on the ball then no system is going to help. For Leeds to improve we have to be confident on the ball, move the opposition around and find gaps to create chances. However, our defenders cannot hold on to the ball, our midfield when put under pressure goes sides, long and give the ball away which then leaves us exposed. I’m pleased about the new signings, but until Jessie coach the players to move the ball from back to front with confidence, I don’t think there is a system or player who could take us forward. Ounahi was great in the World Cup because his team mates had individual qualities the majority of our players do not have, nor are they coached to play with confidence.
The boys lack structure through to end result…this is part marsch problem and players willingness to follow through. Look at man u – they have structure and showed in their win against city.

Hey from oz Max. Ounahi will give us something we don’t already have, so great! It’d be really nice if we could play out from the back occasionally like a good football team. I’m so pleased the club is investing right now!!!! Better late than never.
I watched the last word and thought most of the guys were just letting off steam. Realistically, JM, despite his current performance status, shouldn’t be sacked this early into such a huge project. Especially since it has taken the board until now to sign a LB & Striker for him!!!
Beyond this transfer window our results will be all on JM’s appraisal sheet.
Our squad is now sufficiently diverse to compete against anyone. Even Llorente can contribute in some circumstances, although I consider him to be a fair-weather player. I’d give JM until we have 12 games remaining in the season to turn things around to be fair to him. We have to get him the support coaches he needs right now. We should have begun this project immediately after we finished the season in 9th place IMO. Bielsa was always a short-term manager according to our chairman. Cheers mate.

The one area we have really struggled this season is building up play from the back.
A lot of the time, our defenders and CM don't have anyone to pass to – going forward. Additionally, the forwards we have are best suited to balls to feet and recently they have been starved of possession.
Watching Griezman play in the world Cup, he played between the lines/roaming 8. I hope if Ounahi signs then we give him space to link play.

I like the idea of a 4-3-3 but think we need to have a defensive midfielder with how bad we are at the back . Maybe have Adams as our defensive midfielder instead of a number 10 in the hole with Ounahi and Roca as the front two in the three. In the shape you have your red magnets.
Agree with you Max but we need to have a plan B this time and If we don't get Ounahi plan B should be Seko Fofana I would prefer that we were going for Fofana first as he has better stats by far all the way through according to fbref his stats are way higher and he also has 3 goals and 3 assists whereas Ounahi has zero.

It's nice to see a channel not just dumping on Jesse like most are atm. I really feel conflicted. I genuinely like him as a person and I love his signings even more, but he really needs to get this team to where they deserve to be on the table. I want him to prove the naysayers (and my own doubts) wrong, but I don't know how much longer he should be given. I mean we aren't getting beat nearly as bad as when Bielsa was sacked but Bielsa was left for dead during the January transfer window. With all these perfect signings, I hope we see a new Leeds within the next month.

Do you worry about certain teams being able to play through us more easily with a wider 4-3-3? I don't know how our style of press will remain effective in that setup. I would advocate the narrow counter pressing approach against the bigger clubs and the more expansive approach against bottom half sides. It's great to have different tactical options for different opponents, something we've mostly lacked for years now. I've seen a lot of people saying skip Ounahi and buy a defender instead but you did a good job explaining how Ounahi can help the defense too
