Laporte is absolutely right. Pep's new system does not suit him at all. He's a traditional cb in a 4 at the back setup. He's not athletic enough to play that left side position in a 3 at the back system. There is too much ground for him to cover in this system.

We tend to look superficially, very superficially at players but there is a cost, a human cost.
There's no getting away from the harrowing facts. They are:-

More than three-quarters of academy players are dropped between the ages of 13 and 16.
When we look at transfers or City players out on-loan from the Academy, we must remember the human side. The rewards are there for 0.012% who actually are rewarded with a Premier League club but the vast majority, in years of struggle, sadly will be casualties of the system.
£35M for Phillips isn't bad tbf….
City should sign Nico Barella..and leave Bellingham.
