Gareth Bale has poured cold water on suggestions he could come out of retirement and sign for Wrexham.

The Wales legend announced the end of his playing career earlier this year after playing in the Qatar World Cup.

However, he was sent a plea by Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney to return for one more season after their promotion back to the Football League.

  1. He would only be good for Wrexham if he was doing it (at least in part) for the love of the game, which he doesn't have, so he wouldn't be any good. Not as a player anyway. They could spend much more wisely than spending on him.

  2. As a Welshman I f**king hated the constant withdrawals of top players in 80s and 90s …Bale was an absolute legend . Only matched by John Charles MAYBE ..lol ..his commitment and happiness ge enjoyed when on international duty was nice to see . I know Real Madrid fans disagreed ,,BUT PATRIOTISM is nothing to be ashamed of …it should be embraced by all….Bale was fantastic at Madrid and if any KNOWLEDGEABLE fans of bernabeau disagree .THEN THEY ain't got football knowledge . Hazard aint been ripping up no trees for them . ..if was anybody Apart from Zidane who obviously had contentious relationship with Bale he would be forever remembered

  3. They should bring in some American youth players. The show has really fueled a passion for the club from Americans. 1 or 2 Americans in the squad would really take it to the next lvl for American fans. More American dollars for the club and a chance for young Americans to break into English football, even though it's at a lower division. Seems like a win, win situation.

  4. Letting him play for Wrexham would be a bit over the top. You shouldn't try too hard to reactivate "veteran" Superstars. That would be a bit like shooting at sparrows with a cannon (as we say in Germany). They should be looking at the two leagues above their league, as they did with Mullin almost two years ago, and putting a lot of effort into youth work.

  5. This Welshman needs to do a Brad Pitt, lower his fees, hit a Snatch and make it the best move of his career already.

  6. I wouldn’t bet against Rob talking him him into a exhibition game like the 7 on 7 this summer at some point in the future.

  7. He's only 33! Retired way too young would be an awesome part time gig if he did a free months at wrexham. He will regret it in 10years time when we hits mid life and wants to play again.

  8. Lovely guy,,not your typical big headed world class footballer,,maybe that’s why Madrid couldn’t get behind him,,instead of being with teammates all the time Gareth would go home to his family and obviously hit the golf course 😂😂 I just wish the man well

  9. Man's a monster, if he'd sign on Premier league team right now, he would rip the league apart again. I think there could be small possibility of him playing in some of the Wrexham US tour games, but full season, no.

  10. Madrid money is good enough to live off genereations why come back to football where media criticises you and fans curse you. I'm sure he would be happier to play in an adult amateur league in the US than play in Europe and always face criticism and warm up benches. Life is good. Why complicate things.
