Winning titles at Madrid of Bayern may as well be worthless. Having a record at Wigan would mean more than that. Its like these people have no actual passion for football they see it like how people in finance see things just some sort of transaction. He also has a family maybe he actually cares about them and wants to let them live where they like to live and have his kids grow up near their grandparents in a city that he loves.
Many players have won the Bundesliga, many of them will be forgotten, but only one player has the PL goal record. E.g. Lewandowski will be remembered in Bundesliga not for his title wins but his record goal scoring
