The Oklahoma Sooners created another fantastic atmosphere at the 2023 spring game, welcoming Kyler Murray back to receive his Heisman statue.

John Williams of Sooners Wire at USA TODAY Sports discusses his experience and he and Josh Helmer of 94.7 The Ref in Norman share their takeaways on who stood out on both sides of the ball.

On defense, Peyton Bowen and Dasan McCullough were fantastic. On the offensive side of the ball, the running game struggled, but Dillon Gabriel stood out and Jackson Arnold made a few plays that provided a glimpse of what’s to come at quarterback for the Sooners.

  1. THE PROGRAM AS A WHOLE SHOULD BE CONCERNED WITH THE AMOUNT INJURIES it impedes development continuity upward mobility !!! MUST GET HEALTHY Sometimes it takes the body more time to adjust to a different type of work out a.k.a. Smitty🤔🤔🤔 vs Hot yoga Benny Wiley

  2. Players that I saw that I think will make a difference this year: McCoullough Bothroyd Bowen Anthony and then the rest looked improved.

  3. 😂😂😂 national title contender days are over, I think you guys are overhyping that offense, didn’t look good at all , defense played better but that was probably because that o-line was horrible

  4. McCollough needs to be on the field for sure in whatever capacity. He just gets it and has a knack to be around the ball.

  5. We need players to step up. The passes to Gibson hit him in the hands. This is high school stuff. We cannot have drop after drop after drop. He has been in 2 Spring games and all the practices. He has fallen down the list. Need reliability period.

  6. im so glad that we got our defense back. we have not had a good defense since, wellll, since venables was defensive coord for bob stoops. they won a natty back then so im hoping that our offense gets better playing this powerful defense and we can get us ANOTHER natty in the next year or two

  7. I have the same feeling about our offenses As I did last year. It's kind of scary we're not that good hope lebby knows what hes doing because it look the same as last year It takes too long for the offense to get going I'm sure i'm going to have a bad feeling About next year

  8. How many wide-open passes does DG have to miss before you consider it a QB battle? I want him to do well, but we've seen a pattern at this point. Missing receivers the way he does is unacceptable, especially at this stage. That easy drag route he missed was a ridiculously easy throw. He is what he is at this point.

  9. I don’t think we can really think that on both fronts. I love our team but having the first team offense make TDs against 2nd team defense gives me what I need to see yet.
I also don’t think the number 1 defense busting through the number 2 OLine shows me what I want to see yet either.
It was fun and the defense gives me hope they can still do the same against other teams OLine.

  10. No disrespect but stop it John Williams, the drop in attendance from last year was not because it was Kyler Murray compared to Baker, it was a combination of cold weather and people still recovering from several tornadoes days before.
