The puck was way out of Pavelskis reach so therefore it is not a clean hit. Dumba should have been ejected

The announcers, including ESPN former referee Dave Jackson, seem to all be leaning that Dumba somehow did something illegal, but the hit was clearly shoulder to shoulder – unfortunately Pavelski didn't see it coming. He was hit less than a full second after releasing the puck – something that happens at least once in every game played. Kudos to NHL Toronto and the refs to getting the call right and not overreacting simply because it was a great player whose head unfortunately hit the ice.
Hit isn’t as dirty, just how pavelski landed. Never left the ice to lay that gorgeous hit and I like pavelski over dumba.
I heard about this before I saw it. Based on the outrage, I was expecting it to be way worse. Ultimately it was a clean hit that just came too late.

Looks clean, forward had his head down when he ran into Dumba, he braced himself and leaned into Pavelski. Sorry he got hurt but that is hockey.

Late hit, elevated, and celebrated his own ugly hit that caused injury. Terrible sportsmanship. Legal or not, still an ugly hit. It is hockey. Most of you commenting still can't buy liquor legally so your opinion doesn't carry much weight. I use to watch Darian Hatcher smash people to pieces. The difference though…The opponent knew it was coming. Dumba-ss was skating backwards watching him and planning his big hit. He took advantage of a situation. I mean, Palveski literally passed the puck and looked up and got plowed. Everyone saying keep your head up, he did. He had no time to react because the man defending him was behind a little, and here comes dumba-ss eyeing him from middle ice, gains momentum and plows into him a little after the pass. It was so hard, that Dumbass flew too. It is what it is. Nobody wishes injury like that, clean hit or not. Nothing about being "soft".
Wild isn't moving on pass this round, so doesn't really matter. Palveski will be back second round. He needs to rest. Wild is a joke of team. Bunch of little babies playing. You guys looked SO LOST last night, it was truly comical. You finally got back in the game after a soft holding call. But then you guys fell right back into a confused state. Especially with Oger Reaves on the team. I would burn all my Dallas Stars gear if Reaves joined our team.

If it’s a good hit, not late, then why doesn’t it happen more often?
0:59 You can see Pavelski's white stick near his neck. I bet his own stick made contact with his jaw and knocked him out. His head hitting the ice after the fall probably did additional damage. Hope he's okay, that was scary watching him being helped off the ice.

It’s too bad Pavelski didn’t see him coming sooner and put his shoulder into it. The guy would have gone backwards headfirst into the boards and been destroyed. 24 is very lucky.

How the hell did dude not get suspended for a few games for this? It was a hit to the head clear as day. Maples leafs Michael Bunting got suspended for three games for the same thing.
I thought the hit was pretty clean, but the way he hit the ice was a bit scary.
Hit was late otherwise clean. Def deserved a penalty and maybe more given consequences. Tough break for pavelski quality player class act.
