Zappe can play, he just needs that opportunity
This is what a backup highlight reel looks like ppl. A few lucky forced receptions that easily could have been picked or knocked away, and then a bunch of wide-open receivers. Zapps could be a real nice competent backup for ANY pocket passer offense, the problem being he tends to play like a gunslinger packing a peashooter. No pocket passer team would ever complain about having Zappe backup their starter, but if ppl think Zappe is the answer…😂. Then get used to .500 seasons. At least we know that Mac (as a rookie, and with actual Offensive coaches) helped get NE to the playoffs. If you don't think Mac is the answer, I'm not exactly in disagreement. Yet if you want to sit a healthy Mac for a smaller QB with a weaker arm, your going to need a helluva lot better argument than every good play made by Zappe his rookie yr. Don't get me wrong the kid is a great backup, but he hasn't showed anything yet that's screamed I want HIM instead of Mac. Great work on the vid though 808👍
My QB in 2023
The big thing I noticed is that Mac Jones seems stressed out EVERY play, even if its a screen pass. Right around week 9 of his rookie year he got rattled and hasn't been the same. The rest of offense feeds off the energy and demeanor of the QB. That's why the offense ran better with Zappe in, he was calm, collected and just going through his reads. The media was saying its only because they "dumbed" the play calling down, I beg to differ. Mac will lose his job this preseason.
