This week on Continental Club Henry and McCubs are joined by Román de Arquer of La Liga Lowdown to discuss Barcelona’s transfer troubles! Talking to us direct from Barcelona, Román walks us through the current feelings towards the club in Cataluyna, and explains how the various economic ‘levers’ could help them register players ahead of their opening league clash against Rayo Vallecano. They also discuss where Bernardo Silva will fit into their side, should he get a move from Manchester City.
After that, they explore the remaining big transfers that could be set to happen this window, from Fabián Ruiz to PSG, Memphis Depay to Juventus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea. They also break down Napoli’s busy transfer plans this month, and try say one good thing about Adrien Rabiot to Manchester United!
All that, plus much, much more. Enjoy!

CC good to go
Barcelona fans being upset the players won't take a pay cut is weird I mean imagine you got hired on for a certain pay and the company says actually I need you do your job to the best of your ability but I also need you to take a huge pay cut
You boys need to sync up your holidays 🤣🤣
It took Xavi ages to get the old team rolling, how they think changing 70% of the starting 11 will make them immediately good is confusing. This isn’t career mode guys chemistry isn’t automatic.
Barca was already competing better at the end of the La Liga season, and let’s be honest, they haven’t competed in Champions league in a long time.
No Dougie=better episode
Let’s goo
I just come to realise that Mike is a United fan
Can you see Bernardo Silva joining Barcelona!?
(Dougie)
Barca is ridiculous they need to stop spending money if they are going to ask the squad players to take a paycut. The have offered their players contracts and need to offer them they are falling into irrelevance because they spend badly and negotiate terrible deals over paying players. I hope they lose some of the new signings from being unable to register them it would be deserved. barcas best players came from their academy the need to return to their roots
From what i understand, Frenkie de Jong's wage is also that high because of delayed payments of his wages during covid times. They agreed him giving up wages, then paying it later on. Now they want to get rid of him without honouring that promise.
Really do think de Jong should make it difficult for them. If they want him to leave, they should atleast pay him what they owe him.
Xavi once said that since you can have 5 subs come into the game, there is no such thing as a fixed XI or formation, perfect for rotation. Xavi will use 4-3-3 ofc, but he also utilizes a 3 in the back system.
Thank God… Someone with knowledge of Barca
Tired of these Prem merchants chatting shit without doing much research🤦🏻♂️
Barca are attempting to destroy Spanish football behind the facade of saving the league and staying relevant – uefa needs to place sanctions on them for their bullying and financial misconduct .
Another great guest
Barca are truly disgusting. Pay your players what is owed before spending on more players, who in turn will be costing huge wages…! Really irritating that they can be allowed to not hold up the contracts they put on the table.
Well I instantly don't like the guest since he wants barca to be able to register all their new players. With the scummy business they've been conducting idk how anyone can still be on their side. I hope they can't register any of them and massively suffer the consequences just like any other team would have to.
Quality of the guests on this show is superb 👍
Very good
Yes I see
Henry Hill's pronunciation of foreign names is impressive
👏
Enjoyed the long episode this week! Keep it up⚽️
Hill looking very classy in the thumbnail
6 hours after uploading and the players have been registered
Barca LOL
Sevilla will be lucky to finish in a European spot this season lmfao
Barca isn't news. It's exhausting to listen to it. THey have registered 6 out of 7 players. they will sell de Jong, they will do what they need to do. all the mockery is just sad because the press needed something to talk about because Kylian and Haaland were settled before the summer.
A cheaper option for Bernardo is Billy Gilmour. Guarantee Billy would go into that Barca squad and become the key player in midfield instantly and isn't going to be used by Chelsea this season especially if they sign De Jong
Uve gotta remember Laporta is only the president before the next elections, if he takes the safer option the next president will benefit from the fruits of his labor which he probably does not want. If he takes the safer option he's very likely to not be re-elected so I think there's definitely a selfish aspect to his decisions. As a Barca fan I'm not too much of a fan of giving away TV revenue and the fact and we keep signing players without offloading, we got like 10 forwards and 8 midfielders, either only certain players get all the game time or very has a fair share of the pie which means not much game time for everyone. Can see many players getting frustrated over game time. Also sign a LB and RB, we keeping buying players in positions we don't require but never sign fullbacks…
Barcelona should be bankrupt
Great video with yet another fantastic guest
I understand Barcs wanting to keep qualifying for the champions league as missing out on that revenue would devastate them, however I think it's time they had a bit more faith in La Masia and brought through their next generation of youngsters. We know there are talented players around their squad, maybe they should bite the bullet, accept they aren't going to win la life and focus on getting the youngsters to be regular starters and set themselves up for the next decade with a new core of Pedri/Fati/Gavi who could all be there for 10+ years similar to Messi/Xavi/Iniesta
as a Chelsea fan, i'd much rather us sign Depay than Aubameyang. Memphis is much more competent as a facilitator of the ball in attack so the fit is better, we don't need another volume striker that only thrives when there is space in behind.
Fabian ruyiz will be an excellent addition to Liverpool they need midfielder depth..
