After Romelu Lukaku was given a second yellow card in Inter’s matchup against Juventus at the weekend, in reaction to virulent racism from the Old Ladies fans, he celebrated in the same manner after scoring against Benfica in the UCL with no card given.

Thierry Henry, Micah Richards, Christina Unkel and Alessandro Del Piero discuss racism in football, in Italy and what (if any) solution there will be to fight it in the football world.

  1. This happen many times is serie A..I remember Balotelli got so emotinal when he had those racist chants. Ban the league don't watch the italian league boycott it that will solv the situation because no one is taking it seriously..they voted a racist politician in Italy what would you expect!? Once a facist always a facist. I hope I am wrong.

  2. This is why I hope Leeds will go down, most racist club in football, they shouldn't allow fans in their stadium until they can go one match without being racist.

  3. In fact Titi and Micah really felt the pain during these discussion about RACISM. Their faces said it all. It's time all Football Federations seat down and solve this RACISM issue at once, because we all LOVE the game.

  4. UNFORTUNATELY Balotelli said it long time ago, the players should move to the continent where they will be appreciated and respected where people look like them . BIG UP MARIO BALOTELLI….

  5. The problem with our rhetoric is that, while it appeals to the majority of people, it goes over the heads of the worst of us, the real racists, who are always the loudest, therefore it appears as if all the rhetoric is having no effect. We need support for players, removal of fans, bans for fans – not words, real action.

  6. I forgot Micah was on loan at Fiorentina. Anyway, the Italian FF, the referee and the crowd should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Do you, Romelu. We support you.

  7. Its Lukakus fault.

He provoked the fans. Even if they were not racist, its a yellow card. You dont go and celebrate with the opponents fans.

Yellow well deserved. He wanted a reaction.

Also the english speaking world focuses on racism, they dont understand whats going on in other leagues with nationalism and co.

You cant delete the evil in the world. You cant stop hate.

  8. I know no one wants to acknowledge this but ever thought that the italian, in fact, the european people have never been asked if they want to take in millions over millions of mostly immigrant men?
Maybe racism doesn't come from nowhere. And no, it's not taught – otherwise tell me who the first "teacher" was…
I'm not saying it's a good thing, at all! But our society likes to discuss the consequences and not the root of the problems we have. Same with school shootings. Guns aren't the problem, it's the mind of the people who do those things.
On another note, i watch premier league football and i'm not thinking of race. I don't care who scores the goal and what color their skin is. But there is a constant reminder when the score on the top left drops and it says "no room for racism".
So 1 – think where racism comes from.
and 2 – think who profits from keeping racism and race-thinking alive

Whether you like it or not, like this comment or not. This is the truth. This is the root to the truth.
Good luck & peace to you, whatever race you are!

  9. I've always thought refs can stop the game for a few mins if and when a player reports racial abuse from the stands. The first time it's heard, make an announcement on the PA. The second time this happens, stop the game for a few mins and get the guilty party/parties out.
