Finally you are calling it for what it is, Kane has the record etc mostly because he is privileged and protected.
There is an element of truth. The media take a while to call out top English players but not top foreign players. Simon Jordan ironically is just a contrarian in this regard. The rest have agendas for the purpose of drama. Gerrard got away with 2-footed lunges for a long time. Kane got away with backing into players while they were jumping over him. Shearer elbowed anything that came near him (though in his era you could give it back so he did what he had to).
It's not an English players thing. It's a high profile English players thing. For example, nobody let Joey Barton/Karl Henry off the hook.
The aforementioned players have reputations as top players first and sometimes referees don't know how to handle their nasty sides. Plus these players are the ones talking to the refs for most of the game (remember, captains and English speaking). Foreign players, even elite foreign players get the respect as players but are not the leaders on the pitch. The only one who comes to mind is Kompany at City. Liverpool playing and any issue, Henderson or Milner are straight in the refs face. It looks like they are shouting and bawling, but they always maintain a dialogue even after the situation calms down (almost co-ref the game). Anyone who plays football knows that some people are louder/@stronger personalities who take over on the pitch. I think refs just need a refresher on how to deal with dominant players.
But it's not an English only thing. Watch Italian football and the refs (generally a class above English refs) only look for senior Italian players when something happens. It's done almost subconsciously.
Id say punish the player after the fact, but then i think of internationals and ronaldo winks etc and wouldnt mind OUR England players play acting like that
true is the players are looking for an advantage to over react so they get players sent OFF totally bullshit as they are getting upwards of 250KS a week to play
He's the dirtiest and yet the softest footballer I've ever seen. That move where he ducks under jumping players is utter garbage. He always leaves a few nasty ones on a defender every game but hes England's golden boy ain't he. Breathe on him and watch him fold like a piece of paper. Supremely talented for sure but hard to avoid all the rest of what he does along with it.
