      For a person like Stuart to say someone can't be actually sorry for their actions is beyond me. Let's look at his history. His only saying this cause his not an English player. If this was Rashford or Kane this won't be a story after an apology. Foh

      How can you respect the refs when they make HORRENDOUS calls/non calls every weekend… they have no respect for the players

      That wasn't an apology by Mitrovic, it was more of an explanation to justify his actions. How arrogant of him to say i accepted the 3 game ban as if he thought it wasn't justified. Also the referees need to be stronger as Mitrovic should have been given 2 red cards. The first one was given to him for mishandling the ref and after that he squared up to the ref in an aggressive manner, forcing the ref to back away, for which he should haven been given another red card. There should be a minium of a 6 games ban

      This is such complete and utter horseshit.

      If anyone wants to see what happens in other sports (that aren’t run by whining wimpy kids) have a look at the Jomboy breakdown of Amir Garrett vs the entire Pirates bench or the Harper – Strickland fight. Both involve basically the entire team (including coaches and managers), real punches and umpires (referees) being assaulted.

      It’s absolutely awesome entertainment, accepted as part of the game and always ends with little to no fanfare.

      British media need to get a grip before football is completely gone, if a ref can’t take some abuse while making divisive decisions then they aren’t much of an adult.

      Everyone on the planet rallies behind players whenever they receive abuse from fans and rightfully so. Yet time after time trolls justify referee abuse. It's sickening. A 3 match ban is a joke. Stop justifying referee abuse because they make mistakes. It's fair to hold referees accountable for their performance, it's another to abuse and intimidate them. Stop equating the 2. If they make mistakes now in this high pressure environment, what kind of error do you think they'll make when the likes of mitrovic happen every week??

      WELL maybe hold them accountable for their refereeing performances because I would feel bloody invincible if I was a ref as well getting away with the shockingly amateur mistakes and a bunch of professionals can't seem to think "let me add some common sense", when analysing incidents from VAR. Mitrovic should never touch a ref like that no ref should be pushed like that but Pull your victim pants up and hold yourself accountable for your poor actions.

      Mitrovic can rightly appeal this any ban/fine imposed at the worlds sports court for arbitration as Bruno Fernandez was not sanctioned for putting hands on the linesman two weeks prior.

      Stuart pearcw is absolutely right about the Referees, but Mitrovic in this case is not to blame. It was just frustration.
      The Saka one was an evil and disrespectful attack
