I think a lot of the criticism his getting is stupid its a new country a much higher level league his adapting well to score against the opposition he has and be a threat of the right like we havent had for years always helps his full back always puts in a shift and can literally take the piss out of most of the fbs in the league but people are more interested in slaging him of for what his not doing instead of appreciating what he is
I know he didnāt set the price tag but heās far too predictable and one footed.even if he could 1 in five go done the outside and get a cross in just to keep the left back guessing.hopefully he will develop his game but at the moment Iād have to say juryās definitely out.
Very fair assessment. I'm hoping he kicks on.
You could say this is irrelevant but it ties into our attacking options with Antony
Could these 3 be and option in 1 window? I dont think its impossible to get Evan and Rasmus for cheap, maybe swaps with martial too.
Fifa thinking by me but it has the current ability and 100% the future ability
Evan Ferguson
Rasmus HĆøjlund
Harry Kane
I donāt get angry at watching Antony because he clearly wants to play for the club and he is never short of effort and he doesnāt hide like lots of players do, I respect that.
However, he probably is the worst signing in United history. Weāve had much worse players, but never have we payed anywhere near 85m for them. The lad has zero talent outside of a great shot from cutting in. Really hope Iām wrong but he lad is awful
Fair summary. The predictably is the biggest challenge for me. But I'm willing to give him time, don't think we would be doing as well as we are now without him… I recall his first match, the energy and attitude that he put in was like a breath of fresh air and it felt like a statement to the rest of the team like, "this is what Ten Hag wants from you all"
When he doesnāt play we notice. Not only is he good at keeping the ball, his defence workrate is way underrated. I think heāll be better as the seasons go by because the quality is there but I must admit he must be more aggressive in taking people on because his footwork is insane. Itās a mentality thing
Heās pretty shite tbh as a united fan he brings balance but no way near good enough for us couldnāt imagine what greenwood would be like
I think Antony has been a good player this year so far. Yes he's been far too predictable and he has to develop the ability to go right and get more crosses into the box. However, he also shows moments of absolute brilliance which leads me to believe there's quite a bit more to come. Also, he plays with passion and grit and defends reasonably well. I think that over the next 2 years we'll see him develop into an excellent if not elite player.
Antony has 7 goals in his first season and Sancho has 10 in almost 2 seasons..
Antony is a weird one cause he does seem to have a quick feet to be amazing at dribbling seen him use it alot in defensive half tto get foul
I know the price tag isn't his fault but regardless i feel he doesnt have that big club mentality. His play is predictable and he hasnt really, for me, shown anywhere near what he can apparently do and this is probably because of the differences between the dutch and english league. I think he would be more suited to a club the size of newcastle, everton etc.
My main issue with him is he never looks for the pass and never passes in general. Always goes for the shot
I honestly believe he had his ears pulled, he was different when he fist arrived and then I can't remember which game, but we were 0-0 and he did the spin and got critiqued for it, and ETH came out and basically said he had to cut that off, and then got drop after and ever since he doesn't try to take on players anymore
He's gonna end up with 15 goals atleast by the end of the season which is better than a certain 100 mil pound winger. Of course would love to see him dribble past players like Ajax days. He'll come good.
Antony is great in the midfield area for possession, usually very good for our pressing game and helping out the defence, but in attack, he has 100% been a flop so far.
You can point to his goals, but last I heard he is actually UNDERPERFORMING in terms of xG, meaning he should have more goals than he does. š¬ This is due to him missing some clear cut chances, and also because he shoots so damn often from range.
Combine that with his embarrassing xA and the FACT that he slows down almost every single attack, and you have a player that is unquestionably detrimental to our attack.
Scoring a banger every so often doesn't make you a great player, and if Antony doesn't improve his final 3rd contribution soon, he could well find himself on the bench if Sancho gains form, or if Amad hits the ground running when he returns.
Tbf heās never had the form that warranted the 80 million pound signing
The lad has a high ceiling. Antony really needs to work on the use of his right foot, to open up the cut to the inside. I still think he is adjusting to a new league, and have faith he will be what we want him ro be.
what if Mason return next season? what next for antony? mason play exclusively right winger
I didn't learned shit because I knew bro was average from watching him at ajax. 8goals and 4assists for ajax last season
It's the sheer weight of playing for Manchester United. How many players have signed for this club and crumbled. Even before the the Premier league and the mammoth thing it became in modern football. It's the biggest club in England with a ridiculous glorious history. European Cup winners with Forest were out of their depth when they pulled that shirt on. Needs a seriously strong mentality to be brought into UNITED and succeed. Eric, Robson, (Whiteside if he could hold his drink like Robson!) Strachan, Wilkins, Bruce, Hughes, Choccy, Keane, Rooney, Ronaldo etc. And many others but not as many as those you couldn't name who crashed under the weight of expectation. Peter Davenport anyone?!
Ste, are you SURE that Anthony has the pace to beat defenders?
Need to hit double figure before the season ends
Expected assist to who? Weg ain't exactly knocking them back, and I suspect our wingers know that. Put a target in the box and perhaps that confidence to put the ball into danger zones adds up to more stats for everyone.
I believe if Anthony can work in right foot, he will be a nightmare for any defender to stop him⦠heās weakness is cutting back to left⦠Saka start working on his right foot which why heās very dangerous player to defend against as he can either use both side to put a cross in⦠Anthony is more of one dimension player like Luke shaw they only depend on the left,,, the amount of times Luke shaw turn back to play safe pass to keeper is shocking, he canāt even pass 10yards with his right foot which is very bad for a player⦠crazy
To early to tell really, but if next season turns out like this one, "flop" isn't very far away if one has to summarize. Poor season. Really poor.
Strikers are often criticised for not doing it in the big games, . You cannot label that on Anthony. He has stepped up to score in big games. We have definitely benefitted from that.
I think Antony is a flop only in the media's eyes because he cost more but when you look at it without the money[which Glazers money so we shouldn't be that disappointed] he has actually helped the team with his goals. Next season we'll become beasts with new signings and owners.
Incisiveness, better passing accuracy, he's not as fast as I thought he was or he thought himself so he should be playing smarter and play with more awareness of the entire pitch.
Love the OU sweater!! Go sooners!!
The moment Anthony martial comes back into the team is the moment antony will score more goals. Martial links up well with everyone.
He already has one assist for Antony within the first 15 mins of playing with him sharing everton.
Weāve all seen how martial and rashford linkup, I think martial and Antony can also work something out because martial is so clever, he knows how to collect the ball, and let the wingers run ahead of him before setting them free with a clever pass..
And I think Bruno and sancho will benefit from Martials return. Sancho is low on confidence, and always needs someone to knock the ball into feet, martial always provides options for his teammates.
And whenever the ball is cleared out from the back, martial has a sublime first touch, and great ability to hold the ball for just long enough to release it to Bruno into enough space to create a killer pass to set rashford free.
Martial is the missing piece in the attack.
He's got to be very careful that he doesn't drop in to the category of being a "Nani", great potential but once in a blue moon Performance, needs a world class RB to help him, good video mate š.
Reminds me a bit of Nani. On his day is unbelievable but those days don't come around often enough.
1.He's not as good as we thought he was.
2. He's not as good as he thinks he is.
I'd rather see Pellistri in that position, he's more productive
Kanchelskis was predictable too. Bloody good player. Antony switching things up I think is him adapting and EtH helping him adapt to the PL.
"do not let Arjen Robben come inside! what did he do? he came inside!"
Mate he played with mazraoui who is not elite so your wrong and he didn't play with dest who is also not and antony juts not that good his numbers 4 ajax were average
Dalots plays inverted role ten hag doesn't play with overlapping fullbacks so don't know what
In the conversation for flop of the season, let's be honest.
We've not seen the best of Antony yet. There is more to come and looking forward to it
Dalots inverted fullback tactics are different you should know that dont know what is your problem with dalot is talking shit again but you big up wan bissaka whos is definitely not enough a good RB and not a ten hag player hes got zero ability just a waste of space
Anthony is still getting up to speed with the pace of the EPL. Hence the hesitance to beat people
worst right winger in the top 6 teams starting 11ās ā¦ā¦ worst United right winger in history after Bebe
Antony keeps the ball and helps Man United ball players that keep ghe ball. The guy is an improvent on Antony Elangd who cant keep the ball if we were 10-0 up or his life depends on it.
Didnāt rate him before we signed him and Iāve seen nothing to prove me wrong. Heās capable of the odd spectacular goal, but mostly heās a show pony who wonāt cope well in the PL. Couple that with his arrogance – the showing off and the fact he went on strike to get out of Ajax – and Iām not sure heās going to be one for the long term for us at all.
When he first came to Utd, the showboating and not beating the man was not a great first impression, and his lack of assists is a bit of a worry so far but I have seen him improve and think in time we will see him produce more. His goals have been predictable with the cutting in on his left but he clearly has skills and goals win games. I think he will come good
I donāt think he has high end pace to take people 1 on 1. Iāve seen him easily outpaced in foot racesā¦
Heās absolutely rotten, would av been as well spending 80million on Theo Walcott
Ronaldo done the exact same thing when he came to united turned in off the right and hit a dipping shot that'd bounce in front of the keeper Anthony scores more far corner than Ronaldo did at the start at united be patient
