Clearly it was unintentional, because with a knee on knee, both players could have sustained a serious knee injury. When a player dodges your upper body, you don't have a right to take out their legs as a last resort. Robertson CLEARLY missed making any form of upper body contact (which would have been legal), so out of desperation he tries to get a piece of McDavid by taking out his lower body. This is a penalty every time. It doesn't matter if you look like you're coasting in and "barely moving". That's like someone saying they're coasting in from center with their arms up in full cross checking position, then complaining about the penalty when they hit someone in the face.

I like Robertson and it definitely wasn’t intentional. I like Mcdavid being a vet and going to talk to him instead of hands going and a brawl on the ice. If it was a 30+ year old edler then punches would be flying

Robertson has his knee extended. It may have been reactionary to how quick McDavid is, but it's a clear intended knee and 'you can't do that'. Reckless play needs to be made an example of more than the 2 minutes for 'tripping'. 2 games suspension should send a message.
I'm a product of a time when hockey brawls were a thing. But I'm way over that. Having said that, Nurse should have sent a clear message and laid Robertson out. Yes, it was a deliberate knee-on-knee to the best player on the planet… but I would apply the same logic to any player getting that kind of disrespect. He needed to eat knuckles for that hit.
If the league won't let the players settle it (and they won't)… then they have to take this out of the game. Make it a 5-minute major and game misconduct. This crap should NOT be part of the game… that is, if the league REALLY wants to protect its players (and stars).
