Marcus Rashford has withdrawn from the England squad to face Italy and Ukraine, while Nick Pope and Mason Mount will also not link up with the Three Lions.

Rashford was taken off seven minutes from time in Sunday’s FA Cup win at Old Trafford, with the FA today confirming he will sit out the international double header after picking up a knock.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter confirmed after Saturday’s draw with Everton Mount would not be fit to leave for international duty, despite initially finding himself named in Gareth Southgate’s squad.

Mason Mount and Nick Pope have also been ruled out of Gareth Southgate’s side.

  1. Marcus needs a well deserved break, he’s done himself proud. Southgate gave him 5 minutes against France. He doesn’t owe him anything.

  2. Plenty of players in the Championship, League One, Two and Vanarama that deserve a call up. Might actually play better than these lot.

  3. Nice little rest for rashford. Erik Ten Hag doing it the Fergie way, telling his players to take the international break off 😂

  4. I highly doubt Rashford has picked up a knock I think he just wants the rest and doesnt want to risk an injury coming off the bench to play a late bit part for Southgate.

  5. I hope we lose both qualifiers and Southgate gets the sack. Utter travesty he is still in the role. Mr mediocrity

  6. So why’s is it that now Man U are playing every game I’m seeing these excuses about how they need rest Liverpool played legit every game last season won the fa cup won the league cup went all the way to last game of the prem and went to champions league finals so no excuses for Man U and there players

  7. I believe I see crap when rashy pulled out, he would rather win trophies for Man Utd than help his own country England. And even if he was to be in England squad people don’t realise that England play like once every 2-4 months your not going be seeing England play every 3 days for 2 months. It’s just utter crap

  8. Its a big game in Italy so no worries about Rashford who wouldn't have started anyway; Kane will step up, as he always does in the big games. and score at least a hat trick. Disappointed about Mount though. His flair and creativity will be missed. Thank god Maguire is still available.

  9. Good for Rashford, he wasn't used much by Gareth at the Euros and thrown on to take a penalty against Italy in the final, and in Qatar for the WC he only started one game and made 2 sub apps. Get a rest lad and come back firing.
